Biden details plan to combat coronavirus pandemic in first 100 days

Washington(CNN)President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday laid out his three-point plan to combat the coronavirus pandemic, an approach in dealing with the virus that continues to contrast with President Donald Trump.

The plan, announced as he introduced the team he has designed to get the pandemic under control, would aim to get at least 100 million Americans vaccinated in his initial 100 days in office, his pledge to sign a face mask mandate on his first day in office and efforts to get kids back to school safely. Biden's plan came the same day that Trump signed a largely symbolic executive order aimed at prioritizing the shipment of the coronavirus vaccine to Americans before other nations.

"My first 100 days won't end the Covid-19 virus. I can't promise that," Biden said at an event in Wilmington, Delaware. "But we did not get in this mess quickly, we're not going to get out of it quickly, it's going to take some time. But I'm absolutely convinced that in 100 days we can change the course of the disease and change life in America for the better."

If you have done your research at all you would know that Trump's plan is to vaccinate the nation's 21 million healthcare workers first, as well as the three million elderly Americans living in long-term care homes. He has already secured "Biden's magic number" of doses (100 million) from Pfizer, and has secured 85 Million from Moderna! The Plan from Trump is to have at least 20 million vaccinations performed by the end of December, and then another 25 - 30 Million a month after that!
Well let's do the math for you (since we know it's not your strong suit)....20 million in December and we'll say 30 million in January......well we're already HALF WAY THERE (100 million) under Trump's Plan by Jan. 21st! And then let's see......you take that 30 million a month that Trump put into effect, and multiply it by Biden's first three and half months (100 days), and holy shit.....I can't believe it.......that's 100 million Americans.

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s monthslong effort to reopen New York City classrooms was complicated by major logistical challenges, staunch political resistance and a series of crises that culminated in a brief systemwide shutdown last month. At every turn, Mr. de Blasio insisted that the city’s most vulnerable children needed open schools.
But as some school buildings reopen this week, the mayor has found himself presiding over a starkly unequal school system in which many white families have flocked back to classrooms while most families of color have chosen to learn from home indefinitely.

That gulf is illustrated in a startling statistic: There are nearly 12,000 more white children returning to public school buildings than Black students — even though there are many more Black students than white children in the system overall. Latino students are returning at a rate roughly proportional to their overall representation in the school system.
In New York and across the country, politicians and education officials have found that many nonwhite families are not ready to send their children back to classrooms — despite their struggles with remote learning — in part because of the disproportionately harsh impact the virus has had on their communities.


But the fact that so many students of color have chosen remote over in-person learning is raising alarms that existing disparities in the nation’s largest school system will widen, since remote learning has been far less effective, parents, educators and officials said in dozens of interviews. More than ever, they say, the city must quickly bolster online instruction — or risk having its neediest children fall irrevocably behind.

“It’s the perfect storm of marginalization,” said Jamila Newman of TNTP, a nonprofit that provides consulting services for districts on staffing and instruction. “That’s why there is the need to demand stronger instruction remotely.”

Musk said that Tesla is the last car company still manufacturing cars in California and that SpaceX is the last aerospace company doing significant business in the state. “There used to be a dozen car plants in California, and California used to be the center of aerospace manufacturing.”
SpaceX’s Starship development is in Texas, and there is a big Tesla factory outside of Austin.
“There are a lot of things about California that are great,” Musk said. “Obviously it’s the biggest economy in the country, the most number of people. I do think that there is something that happens when, to use a sports team analogy, if a team has been winning for too long, they do tend to get a little complacent, a little entitled. And then they don’t win the championship anymore. California’s been winning for a long time. I think they’re taking it for granted a little bit.”
