My point is this, when the President of the United States says things, it holds weight. Especially to their supporters. If POTUS says drink bleach, some will do it. As a result they usually end up with candidates on the ballot are either Democrats or Republicans who can't cut it with their actually such as Gary Johnson for President in 2016.

I live in California and when I order from Amazon I pay the same sales tax rate as I do when I purchase from a local retailer. And if they get they get it wrong either too much or too little can result in huge penalties paid to the State of California plus if it is too much they have to refund the difference to me or if it is too little they have to pay the difference plus penalties to the appropriate local government.

A United States company buying products from overseas would have to pay US taxes on the profits, but to avoid this, it may buy the products through a non-resident shell company based in a tax haven, where it is described as an offshore company.
