Vaccines alone won'''t be enough to lift pandemic measures quickly, doctor warns | CBC Radio

Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott confirmed this week that the province intends to issue some sort of 'proof of vaccination' to those who get the shot. She called it an essential tool.

"It's going to be really important for people to have for travel purposes, perhaps for work purposes, for going to theatres, cinemas or any other places where people will be in closer physical contact when we get through the worst of the pandemic," she said.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association insists the idea of a vaccine certificate or immunity passport is a violation of Canadians' rights.

"It discriminates. It violates privacy and dignity. It's coercive and it violates Canadians' mobility rights," the association's executive director, Michael Bryant, told The House this week.

"Just because we are seeking herd immunity from a virus doesn't mean we require herd mentality to mark people with the scarlet letter of COVID. We live in a free and democratic society, and that means we don't publicly stratify the population on the basis of their private health status, even if it's a private health status that poses a hypothetical risk to others."

'It's not absolute proof of protection'

Hankins said those concerns are legitimate.

"I think this requires an all-of-society discussion about how we're going to do this, because it's not just proof of vaccination. I mean, if you've had COVID-19, you've got a level of immunity as well," she told The House.

"So we're going to have to think about how we do this in such a way that it is not coercive and that people understand that it's not absolute proof of protection either."

I told you what Canada was gonna do - "Papers Please".

So, I wonder if cops will be able to stop you on the street and ask for our papers?

I'm really not about showing any papers if I'm on the street. Now to go to school or to work, that's a different story. They have the right to ask for proof of immunization. No different than when I was a kid going to school. We had to be up to date our on immunization records.

I expect as you enter a healthcare facility to get a COViD-19 vaccination you will have to fill out a checklist and sign a consent form that waives any rights you have to sue for damages in the event something goes wrong. The liability risk of vaccinating the entire global population is off the scale especially considering these new miracle drugs were rushed through in record time.

"Equally important is offering drug companies protection against potentially substantial liability should Covid-19 vaccines cause real or perceived injuries to recipients."

"Manufacturers won’t agree to procurement contracts or ship vaccine without liability protection. "

"In the United States, the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act provides manufacturers immunity from lawsuits related to injuries caused by vaccines, with narrow exceptions. People injured by Covid-19 vaccines must file claims with a fund administered by the Department of Health and Human Services."

"For a vaccine that will most likely be distributed worldwide, there is an inevitable risk of serious adverse events, such as seizures and allergic reactions, even with a very safe product. Such events might not begin surfacing until a substantial number of people have been vaccinated."

"For many countries, offering pharmaceutical companies indemnity or complete immunity from lawsuits is constitutionally or financially impossible. "

"24 countries and the Canadian province of Quebec have no-fault vaccine-injury compensation systems for routine immunizations."

"The World Health Organization (WHO) has an insurance mechanism for vaccines deployed under emergency use authorizations. This mechanism requires that the recipient country agree to indemnify the WHO, donors, manufacturers, and health care workers who vaccinate people; the WHO then provides compensation to people who have a serious adverse event."

"Creating a comprehensive system for no-fault vaccine-injury compensation would be feasible and would promote justice. Excluding countries that are unable to provide indemnity or immunity to manufacturers could deprive billions of people of the protection that vaccines will afford. Allowing access to Covid-19 vaccines without ensuring that people who have serious adverse events will be compensated would benefit uninjured people at the expense of injured people."

The USA is a very litigious society and it is not hard to imagine lawyers accepting cases that they hope will have a fat $ settlement. These same kinds of lawyers are found around the world.

It is not hard to imagine at some point in the future, proof of COVID-19 immunization could become a requirement to get a drivers license, passport or any form of gov't id.

Early attempts by gov'ts to to create some form of COVID-19 ID and probable tracking of when you rec'd your 1st and 2nd Pfizer vaccine could be vulnerable to counterfeiting especially if admittance to some venue requires it.

It is also not hard to imagine that any consent form that you have to sign to get a free COVID-19 vaccination from the Federal gov't releases the Federal gov't and the local state, municipal and healthcare authorities from any liability.

We have millions of illegals in the USA and they have fake documents already. I'm sure they won't have any problem getting fake papers for vaccination. Better be careful around illegal immigrants...they are super-spreaders.

Maybe there in Canada you will have to fill out all kinds of waivers but not here. The SARS-CoV-19, for those who don't know that is the proper name for the virus, has been fast tracked and as such the manufactures and their affiliates are protected against liability claims.

I have given red cards on posts in Rants,Raves, and Everything Else. When I have it has been for being exceptionally rude or harassing to a senior member or for a post being obviously overt in profanity. I also report such posts.
