Energy independence is a key part of any nation's agenda. The USA needs the capacity now.

The transition to a more dominant renewable energy economy will take many years thankfully accelerated by President Biden's new infrastructure law.
Too bad Joe killed those pipelines. They'd come in handy now and in the future.

Until such time as they give all veterans Tricare for Life and not just those that have put in over twenty years and have retired from the military. That would allow all veterans to use local hospitals, clinics, labs, radiology, urgent care facilities and doctors. Tricare covers everything that Medicare Parts a & B don't, including the Medicare deductibles and co-pays. It also provides prescription coverage through ExpressScript. 90 day supply of medications for less than 30 day supply would cost locally.

Money is not going to correct the problems with the VA hospital and clinic system. It will require firing people starting at the top and working down.

... at least one pipeline in Canada had to be emergency shut down to avoid an environmental disaster after an atmospheric river washed out most all key rail, road and pipeline links in British Columbia. A similar weather event happened in California last week.

The rail lines are just reopening six days later to reduced rail traffic. This makes an already unpredictable logistic path for all imports from the West Coast, like copiers from China, to distribution warehouses in Ontario. more difficult with more delays.

2). Energy independence is a key part of any nation's agenda. The USA needs the capacity now.

1). Some of the oil rigs were taken out by Hurricanes, and others were decommissioned (which costs a shit ton), others have nothing left to pump, and some were "half built" before the pandemic and never got finished. I'll also use one of your favorite excuses - The Pandemic - didn't help things one bit (slowed production by 1M barrels a day), and with vax mandates and bans on drilling it's harder to get those 150k back into the sector.
Most jobs are created when the industry spends capital up-front on drilling new wells and constructing new platforms. Biden's ban on new leasing or permits has ground that development to a halt.
2). We WERE energy independent before Ol' Poopy Pants Joe came in and shit all over it!
And on top of that, he killed the Keystone XL, which would have cemented the capacity to be "energy independent" (that is, not relying on overseas oil). So, again......This all falls at the feet of President Brandon......errm....Biden.

Most jobs are created when the industry spends capital up-front on drilling new wells and constructing new platforms. Biden's ban on new leasing or permits has ground that development to a halt.
If you stop drilling and expanding, then you’re just maintaining the current production platforms, which will become fewer and fewer as the years go on (less production year after year).
You get most the jobs up front when you spend the capitol and build things. But now, they are not spending that money to hire more workers or build new rigs in large part due to Biden's ban on new leases (which he also hopes to expand to "existing leases" in the near future).

                      This is explicitly Biden's fault.
During one of the 2020 primary debates, Biden said "no more drilling on federal lands. No more drilling, including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period — ends.”

... the oil industry has over 9,500 unexercised drilling permits and 23M acres of unexplored onshore/offshore lease to explore. More land than some states. How much is too much?

Do Biden’s executive orders have any effect on US energy independence?

PolitiFact | Do Biden’s executive orders have any effect on US energy independence?

                      • In 2019, U.S. energy production exceeded U.S. energy consumption on an annual basis for the first time since 1957. That’s one definition of energy independence.
                      • The U.S. continues to import millions of barrels of petroleum per day.
                      • It’s impossible to say whether the executive orders President Joe Biden signed during his first days in office would reduce current production levels below U.S. consumption needs.

An image widely shared on Facebook claimed: "The United States was energy independent in 2019 for the first time since 1957. In just 10 days we are sent back 50 years."

In 2019, U.S. energy production exceeded consumption on an annual basis for the first time since 1957. That’s one definition of energy independence. Through the first 10 months of 2020, the latest period for which data are available, energy production was down from a year earlier, but still exceeded consumption. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to import millions of barrels of petroleum per day.

The claim that Biden’s orders reversed the trend or the gains in U.S. energy independence is not supported. The government hasn’t published full-year data for 2020, or for the period since Biden took office.

The orders didn’t stop any current production, and any new production from the avenues he closed off would have taken years to materialize.

The image contains an element of truth, but ignores critical facts that would give a different impression. We rate it Mostly False.

Lyin' Joe says grocery stores are well stocked for Thanksgiving.

President Joe Biden tweeted Wednesday that supermarket shelves are well stocked across the country while grocers ration food.
