I think most of us are in agreement that bsm2 doesn't really understand the intricacies of legislation. But he's not alone. Like many liberals, he gets excited when a piece of legislation is signed. He doesn't understand that it takes years before it can be called a success.

Remember when Obama and Nancy were touting the "shovel ready" jobs legislation that was passed? Turns out that we were sold a bunch of bullshit and Obama was forced to admit that there were no shovel ready jobs.

Obama: "No Such Thing as Shovel-Ready Projects"

With unemployment hovering near 10 percent nearly two years after President Obama signed his economic stimulus package, Mr. Obama is acknowledging that, despite his campaign promises, "there's no such thing as shovel-ready projects."

Are you arguing with me or Obama? He admitted that there are on shovel ready jobs. Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you but ignorance must be pointed out.

A shovel ready construction project (usually larger-scale infrastructure) is where planning and engineering is advanced enough that—with sufficient funding—construction can begin within a very short time.

Smaller projects also fit into this as well. Ie sidewalks etc... Lighting project , intersection improvements

PS we have hundreds of them in Florida

Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill

... House Republicans tried three times today to elect Kevin McCarthy-R the Speaker of the House and failed.

First time in 100 years. What a debacle as it is clear that Republicans in Congress cannot govern.

... House Democrats unanimously elected Hakeem Jefferies as the leader of their party in the House on the first vote. The democrats came prepared to govern and is a strong testimony to the leadership skills of Nancy Pelosi.

If Republicans continue to bicker and infight over who should be the leader, they might be forced to approach the Democrats and select a more moderate leader.

The greatest fear is that a broken and divisive Congress will not pass legislation to increase the debt ceiling.

Fact: Nancy Pelosi is the only person to have lost the House speakership twice. And now she flies back home to a broken California.

It was meant to be hateful and disrespectful. Democrats get all pissy when Islam is disrespected. Or when a homo is disrespected, but somehow they think this is okay?
