    lexmark ... Me no like

So there I am trying to diagnose a 900.22 ...Not in the manual, not finding anything online

The manuals for these things suck
    The diagnostics for these suck
The training is a joke...ride with a guy for a few days...literally that was the official training.
I spoke to 'tech support' ...I got pissed as they REALLY suck...never even seen a copier before...Whatever back water po-dunk shit hole of a country Lexmark outsourced their support to has made them absolutely worthless.
There is almost zero theory of operation in the manuals and we deal primarily with Toshiba. All i really wanted to know was what does 900.22 MEAN so i could troubleshoot.
Although I have a long background in Konica ..back in the day their manuals were top notch and diagnostics to match...I think they inherited too many of the minolta dipshits and its been downhill ever since...where was I..oh..these hybrid KM Lex things are 'okay' so long as you don't expect them to last more than 3 years and understand that they are just expensive toss away machines with nothing to fix or rebuild as everything is just an expensive unit you toss...

Machine is an XC9235, has about 500,00 cycles with the standard 2 500 sheet trays and a finisher.

(tech support did not know that "The paper makes it all the way out of the fuser and midway into the bridge unit" meant that yes it made it past the fucking registration roller)

Machine will feed a page from any tray all the way into the bridge unit then stop with a 900.22 jam. remove jam and it will feed again but the paper will stop most of the way out of the fuser with the lead edge crumpled and give a 35 check media guides which is all it will do until you reboot the damn thing.

sensor states in service looked good and would actuate properly

Eventually I decided that the registration flag though clean and correctly installed must be slow to return so i added a wrap to the spring...once i navigated the shit list of disassembly instructions in the manual that is...and the machine ran nonstop for over 100 pages (would not run 1 before).

Firmware errors can be a bitch to diagnose. Congratulations on finding it. It's kinda like Kyoceras CF248 code: could be firmware, could be bad print data, could be web page print data, ... could be anything. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

We don't sell that model but 900.xx are normally firmware errors. Are you sure it is a paper jam error?

I think any tech will struggle working on a Lexmark if they have been working on any of the top OEMs for years. In 6 years I have used tech support 3 times, mainly because they are useless. Believe me it is the last thing I want to put myself through.

It is a pain to need the manual to just to get a panel off. Sims are clumsy. The parts breakdown for ordering is way too limited. Yesterday I needed the white sheet on an ADF guide and the only option was to order the entire ADF. E-clip on a feed tray shaft? Nope, can't order that.

That said, we do have tons of them that run PM to PM. Some surpassing 1.5M without a single non-PM service call. Not bad for a engine we pay about $1,700 for new. We have many that have gone the entire 3 years of a lease without anything but maintenance and those items were covered with the Lexmark warranty.

Lexmark is a good supplement for an OEM line that lacks the low end machines. They are quirky for sure.

Yes the manual is not real helpful.

        900.xx RIP firmware errors
        900.xx Option controller board error

It would be nice if the xx was a little more detailed.

Launched in Sept 2017, is the XC9235 still a current 35 cpm colour A3 copier? Has anything replaced it that you could upgrade the customer into with a balance of payments and a new lease?

Sorry my brain was angered..200.92 is the jam code that is not in the manual.
            I am lysdexic when typing.

...SalesServiceGuy..lol..your answer to everything is buy a new copier....sadly this is a manufacturing plant (they have 25 of these things). They are on evergreen on the first half of the fleet. They were due to be all replaced at the 3 year mark but they have been bought out and their new corporate overlords are insisting they go with Canon (not a brand we sell). We are starting to see several of the copiers now calling for color developer and we have let them know that once they call for that its done..The price for the color developer PM kit is nearly the cost of a machine...

Yikes! I just looked at the price of the DV Kit.

This model does have a 4 year warranty on the ITU and Fuser PM Kit so that does offset it a little if they hit 600K within 4 years of ownership.

I wonder if the DV maintence only resets with a new DV or if it can be manully reset?

I think he should change his name to just "SalesGuy". It would be a lot easier.

I can't find anyway to reset it. There looks the be a small surface mount fuse on the toner density sensor board.
They only gave us a 1 year warranty when we signed up as a dealer ... interesting that you say its 4

Re: lexmark ... Me no like

This is taken directly from our newest price book:

XC9235 Color Large Workgroup Multi-Function Printer
                    - 1 year Labor & Parts plus 4 Years warranty for ITU and Fuser Maintenance Kits

Perhaps the old price books didn't offer the 4 year warranty on those items. I do seem to remember this might have been a bonus they added later to maybe try and move more of these.

Re: lexmark ... Me no like

New information from Lexmark employees visiting my office today tells me that Lexmark is completely unable to to supply color product until Q3/Q4 2022.

Lexmark now seems intent on supplying relabeled product to Toshiba, Sharp and a new Xerox deal. Konica Minolta is poised to drop their relabeled Lexmark line.

Time for Lexmark BSD dealers to start looking for another line.

I guess they didn't get the memo. I just received 5 XC4143 yesterday. As we say here at work, That guy is a fountain of misinformation. Not you but them.

5 more are on the way I am told.

Konica is in no shape to be dropping anything at this time until they get their own deep problems figured out.

... if you have product, no need to discount the prices to your customers.

If you got five and have five coming, order another 10 because the days of ordering Lexmark colour A4 product only when you sell one are over.

In the past I order these 12 at a time and would re-order whne down to 3. Lexmark no longer offers any Promo Pricing on the XC4143 so I have been limiting my orders until the crap hit the fan. These are now being made in Mexico.

There is another shipment of varied color units set to arrive next week but I would think most of them are already spoken for.

I told the sales reps a few months ago that they no longer need to get skinny on quotes for the Lexmark units. Make a fair profit and if somone expects us to make a $100.00 profit say sorry and sell that engine to the next customer in line.

... Lexmark's are now being manufactured in Mexico? Interesting.

... more new info. The Lexmark XC4143/Toshiba e389cs are discontinued and will be replaced with a similar model with a dual head scanner.

... Lexmark and Konica Minolta are done. Konica Minolta will no longer purchase Lexmark A4 product and and Konica Minolta will no longer supply Lexmark with relabeled A3 product.

Lexmark has a new deal with Xerox replacing Konica Minolta. Xerox will sell relabeled A4 Lexmark product and Lexmark will sell relabeled Xerox A3 product.

I guess this means that Xerox has worked out their issues with Fuji Xerox for print engines.

... for Lexmark BSD dealers perhaps another new operating system and print engine to learn how to technically support.
