Cyberattack hits big Ukrainian telecom provider, Ukrainian officials say

Ukrtelecom, a prominent Ukrainian internet and phone line provider, was the target of a “powerful cyberattack” on Monday, Ukrainian officials said.

The cyberattack was “neutralized” and, as recovery from the hack continues, priority has been given to maintaining communications services for Ukraine’s military, according to a tweet from Ukraine’s State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection.

The agency blamed “the enemy,” for the hack in an apparent reference to Russia.

Connectivity at Ukrtelecom, which describes itself as the “largest fixed line operator in Ukraine,” plummeted on Monday to 13% of pre-war levels, according to NetBlocks, which tracks internet connectivity.

Ukrainian telecom providers have experienced a wave of hacks as the Russian bombardment of the country continues.

Hackers earlier this month caused outages at a Ukrainian internet service provider Triolan, which has customers in major cities.

Already? They do that from 2004. That is why they have war... in 2014 escalating in east.. we must know that more than 50% of UA is Russia and Russian people live there.

If Russia want to cut them off form phone and internet, they can do it in 5 minutes. Still they leave telecommunications. Probably just some kids from RU playing with commuters.

Good day! I am from Russia, and I hope that I will not be thrown at this forum with slippers, I am aware that now all Russians are under pressure, but I would like a constructive discussion and dialogue.
The official reason for the invasion is the protracted conflict in the Donbass since 2014, how much is known in the states about this conflict?

By Donbass are you referring to the Russian backed terrorists in eastern Ukraine that shot down Malaysia flight MH17 in July 2014? MH17: Four charged with shooting down plane over Ukraine - BBC News

There is obviously a difference between the "official" reason and the "actual" reason.
The actual reason for the illegal invasion is one man's (putin) ambition. To pretend that Ukraine is a security threat to Russia is ridiculous. Putin just wants to expand and recreate the old soviet union.

If you are truly from Russia and can evade state censorship in a copier technician forum, congratulations and enjoy the freedom of information exchange.

I suspect that with all of the sanctions imposed on Russia, getting copiers, printers, parts and supplies must be both difficult and expensive.

What brands of product do you work on?

Yes, spare parts have risen in price a little now, there may be difficulties in the future due to sanctions, but so far there are stocks, and besides, China supplies a lot of compatible cheap spare parts.I work with Xerox, HP, Kyosera, etc. I don't feel censorship, except for the fact that Facebook is now only available via vpn.

Office paper has risen in price several times due to the lack of bleach, now they are going to produce paper with a yellowish tint.

As for mn17 and others, there is a very big information war going on now.I wouldn't unambiguously take sides. There is a lot of evidence on both sides.
