Unfortunately the poor states like Mississippi suffer.

The Republicans plan keep the poor poorer

Another stupid thread by Billy the wonder dog
Sorry bur it is mostly Democrat ran states. Here in California with our Communist democrat ran government in Sacramento they lead the nation in setting a $15.00 per hour minimum wage. McDonald's was not the only fast food to start replacing people with auto order kiosks, they all did and also raised prices. You should be thanking God that you live in a Conservative Republican state.

Companies are replacing people everywhere, not just in dem states. As I told Billy, that's a silly argument to make.

Hey, buddy, I never said that so why would you be telling me that? I have no idea about self checkouts in democrat cities but I know what's happening here. You need to stop fighting self-checkouts and tell poor people that they need to learn a skill that's worth a living wage. They don't need you to coddle them. That's the problem with liberalism. You live in a fantasy world.

There is something else about the minimum wage. It was never meant to be a "living wage." It was intended to be an entry level training wage and a high school student summer job wage.

I live on the coast of Mississippi. The total population here on the gulf coast is about 400,000. Definitely not a metropolis. Anyway, all of a sudden I'm seeing people being replaced by machines. It's like it happened overnight.

Good job democrats. We told you.

You are one confused dude. Allow me to clear up your confusion. A living wage was never about democrat or republican states or cities. No. They were about forcing corporations (see McDonalds) into paying $15.00 per hour in every state and city.

Moreover, this thread was started by me saying that MISSISSIPPI, specifically THE GULF COAST, was moving to self-checkouts in lieu of human beings. FYI - Mississippi is republican.

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Perhaps you can show me a quote where I said what you claim?

It's going nowhere because you're lying. The reason you can't produce the quote is because there isn't one. As usual, you can't admit that you're wrong.

                                Re: A living wage

I wasn't a fan of minimum wage when it was started in my country but it wasn't a job killer - if somebody works full time he or she should make a living out of it. It should be possible to calculate how much this should be. I'd call it precarious if you work hard but can't pay for the basic things or if social service must step in for the gap.

What I actually do criticise is that a country-wide minum wage doesn't consider different and regional average living costs. I'm not a fan of handling things with the watering can principle. I guess in the US 15$/hour might be a lot in some areas and barely or not enough in others. Perhaps you guys over there work something out.
