You notice that it fails to provide a source. That is because it is not the annual GDP, it is for the 3rd quarter only. Also it is an initial estimate. Third quarter is when domestic auto makers bring out their new model lines. For those who like to always buy the latest, that is when they order. For those that when those who want to save on their next new car purchase take advantage of dealer/manufacturer clearance sales.
