Just curious. How many techs get a company vehicle. And if you do, is it nice, ok or a pos?
Do you have a company car?

I did have a company car for another company I worked for. Until you have one you don't realize how much the company is getting from you by having you use your own vehicle. It was nice having a gas card an not paying for insurance or repairs, but oil changes, washes, repairs were all done on company time with the company car.Comment

Oh, trust me, I have all my maintenance done on company time. The only real down side is that my car will retire / expire far faster than if I had an office / factory job. I do feel we are reasonably compensated for the use of our own cars.Comment

We had company cars years ago, it was nice not having to worry about a car payment or insurance. The down side was the company name in huge letters all over it, not good when your out on Friday night parked at the bar, or your passing someone, swerving in and out of lanes flipping people off(opps got carried away, not me of course).
Plus, the car they gave us was a Ford Escort, com'on now, a Ford Escort was ok when I was 25, but I'm a long way past 25 now and I need a bigger more comfortable car cause I'm in and out of it all day long.Comment

We get looked after really well. We all have company cars, either being a Holden Commodore Sportwagon (pictured), or Subaru Outback's. They get changed over with new every 3 years.
I have the sportwagon, due to being too tall for the Subaru's and I carry too much stock, so I need the bigger car anyways. The picture is not my actual car, as they are silver with a small Sharp logo on the side. Picture shown is the same model, just blue.Attached FilesComment

The first company I worked for gave us a vehicle, but we had to front the money for gas. When the company was bought out, the new controller decided that once a month was often enough for reimbursment, instead of once a week. At the time I was putting about $100 to $150 a week in my car. I had to have a negotiation with the controller and general manager. Within a few months we had credit cards. What I thought was funny was that one of the things the company liked to brag about was that it was a Fortune 500 company, but I was giving them interest free loans of about 25% of my salary.I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.Comment

Yes. We have Chevy HHR's. I really hate the look of the car and the small rear window makes it hard to see everthing behind you, but it serves its purpose.Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

This is really unusual. I got to choose the vehicle. It's a 2008 Scion xB. The only things that I had to change were to add a 3/4" plywood floor in the back, and to add a "pet barrier" to keep the parts from piling into the front seat during emergency stops. It's my home away from home. I'm in the car 6-8 hours a day. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

No company car, just a mileage reimbursement and a gas card for commuting. I actually BOUGHT an HHR to use as my service vehicle. 8 way power drivers seat is great and the mileage is decent. The only thing I dislike is I have the wide low profile tires on the 17" wheels so winter driving in the snow pretty much sucks. Other than that it's a great service ride.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

I have a Toyota Tacoma, white, with a solid [no windows] white cover. Not a bad look. Company logo on the sides. Have a credit card for gas, and accounts at places for maintenance. Blank checks for everything else. I drive a Honda Civic, 08, and my wife drives an 08 Honda Element. I used to work for a company that made front wheel drive auto parts for most brands. Based on what I know, I drive Hondas. The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment

We have Toyota Matrixes that are painted with bright red logos all over the car. The cars run very well and hold a huge amount of parts and are reasonably comfortable. The best part is not having to not worry about paying for fuel or repairs on the cars. The company purchased hundreds of these cars about a year and a half ago. My city won't let me park it in my neighborhood unless i put it in a garage. They said they thought it was an "Eyesore". Life goes on!Comment
