    Receptionist....Cute....but dumb!

    Quick story that might give some a laugh.

    I overheard my receptionist asking someone to scan her some documents, a few minutes later she asked if they had been scanned so that she could print them. After chatting with her I found out that the only reason she wanted them scanned is so that she could print out an extra COPY!

    Wow! She works for a copier repair company but didn't know how to make a copy!

    Of course she is blonde, go figure...

      Maybe your boss told her that scanning documents was cheaper (and preferable) than copying them, so...

          IMHO, I have always felt that a day (or two) long course on "copiers for dummies" would be great idea for anyone at the dealership who doesn't actively work with them on a daily basis.

          We tried that once (many years ago), and it worked out great. The receptionists felt more comfortable when speaking with customers, or anyone else, for that matter.

              Nope, she did not need an electronic copy of the document, she just wanted another hard copy...

              She looked really tired, and usually only does printing/scanning. Maybe ill take KenB's advice and give her a "copier for dummies" leason

                  At the last place I worked we had some great receptionists. They asked me to sort the database for possible phone fixes. When they would get a new call they would run a quick search to see if they got any hits from the database.

                  I personally benefited by one less call per day, but you need real dedication from the reception staff. =^..^=
                  If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                      Anyone else get the "can i scan documents TO the copier?" Question? It seems like about half the people out there are totally unfamiliar with the concept of scanning something on the copier TO your computer.
                      I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

                                                          JRCS is the boss - maybe he will put a picture of this beauty (a football team cheerleader) on his web site - I hear she really brings in the business - heck, we all like to go to the accounts where the scenery is appealing.
