Why does Kyocera give the customer those silly corona cleaner pads in their toner kits?

The main thing they are good for is making the grid look like someone used a potato peeler on it.

Anybody else besides me telling the customer to throw them away?

A slight off-topic, but I think that's not entirely correct - I'd say it's 1/3 education system, 1/3 teachers and 1/3 parents! If the kids don't get education at home in the first place, the school will do nothing for them.

Every once in a while I get a detail-oriented enduser that actually reads the instructions in the toner box. I usually express my surprise, then suggest that they not touch the primary or grid cleaners. It only creates service calls. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have had a little rash of those lately so I just had to vent.

I just collected meters from 300 bizhubs. About 15 of them have the change pc drum message on the screen. One place called for a code on the machine, the machine is not working, but there is someone standing in front of it pushing the start button repeatedly and wondering why it will not copy. I left there and went to a lawyers office wher they dropped a paper clip in the doc feed and tried to fish it out with another. By the time I got there, I removed 3 from it.

is it just me, or does everyone else see the demise of the human race. After all if you cant read, (or let alone understand a picture) we really are doomed if these idiot clients are the majority of the human race

I think it's always fun to share these stories with other fellow techs, but I believe the majority of the customers are not like that - as a matter of fact, I'm at a cool customer's site as I type these lines.

For the most part the people you are referring to aren't necessarily idiots. They are just incredibly lazy and probably think that dealing with the copier is beneath them.

Let's break it down a little further - 1/4 the system, 1/4 the teachers (for putting up with the system and allowing the teacher's union to support a broken system), 1/4 the parents, and 1/4 the politicians who keep blocking school choice initiatives, and expansion of charter schools, home schools, and accountability in public education.

Let me finish by saying I've met a lot of really excellent teachers, parents, students, and politicians (well... not so much here, but a few) so its really the few bad apples in each case (reverse that for politicians) that are spoiling the bunch.
