    From a Toshiba E-studio 281c service manual

    1864 05 codes

    1651 08 codes

The main problem is useful stuff like removing department codes are hidden amongst junk like controlling the idle rotational speed of the polygon motor

Well I just seen a Konica 1312 today, needed a bit of cleaning, but still doing pretty good, copies still looked OK, little over 85 K on the clock.

I just killed an NP-3050 from a chemical plant because no one made the drive motor that it needed and yet they were still too cheap to buy a new machine. We ended up giving them a used 3570 that will be lucky to last 2 years out in the plant environment.

I was the last one in the company that was still trained on that old POS so of course I had to go out and look at it. I think the last call I ran on one was 11 years ago.

Haha so true...I just cant understand how a world leader in manufacturing computers can have such outdated service modes! Why cant they have an index based readable menu like every other manufacturer?? You need your damn laptop for every call in case you need to look for something...not to mention the newest E bridge X they changed it to mostly ,totally unrelated FOUR didgit codes ..its taken me 2 years to get somewhat familiar with the 3 digit stuff now they pull this brilliant move ! At least with an index type service mode you can hunt around and find what you need....ok theres my rant for today I feel better now

recently done a af220 - required fuser parts but sadly discontinued install date was late 90's i think.

Best deal I ever saw was a sharp sf7700 with 20,000 foc copies from new. The machine was eventually written off without them ever being charged as it never got to 20k and the key panel broke

                It doesn't end!!!

An old customer has called to ask if we could take a look at a Canon NP1215 we last serviced what must be 10 years ago?!

He does maybe 10 copies a month if he's 'busy' but won't accept that he is probably better off using a small ink-jet or something.

                My mind truly boggles.

Last call today was a Mita (No Kyocera yet) AI-2310L. The main charge was stuck inside the image unit. Toner all over inside, in the cassettes. The whole machine was darker than the new TASKalfas. Now I have to check with my parts guy tomorrow to see if any PM parts are on the shelf or even available. I'm almost embarrassed to ask.

Got my list of calls for tomorrow and another 2310. Part of the symptom is dirty copies. Dirty copies, that's not a symptom, that's an attribute of the 2310/3010s. Worst thing before this was a huge customer that had a bunch of Mita AI-1810Fs (not to be confused with the later KM/CS-1810) and even had a DC-2355 from 1992. They have upgraded to FS-1128s since then. Pull the plug already people!!
                        Welcome to my world.

Still have a few floating around on contract we're obligated to service from a brand Who-Shall-Remain-Nameless that we no longer sell. Manufacturer has given us the Big Middle Finger on support, and parts are rare as hens teeth. And software? ROFLMAO!!!!!

                        It can get... interesting.

BTW, anybody got the new Gooses Guide?

I remember about 6 or 7 years ago, maybe 2005, I think when I worked for a computer service company I had a work order to go down to this quilting business and set up their cable modem for their computer so they could use internet. I show up and they had a Packard Bell. I was shocked to see it was at least a Pentium MMX model so it had to have been the last that had ever been shoved out of that company. There was nothing I could do for them tho with that comp. But I sold them a sweet custom box. lol
