[Annoying] Is Hytec really any good?

Had a customer send a ccd board in for a Minolta DI450. Came back as NPF. Cost $118.0

OK, then I must have a bad B board. Sent to Hytec and was returned as NPF. Cost $208.00
Told my customer that the CCD error (c1441)I am getting is caused by the drum, developer, laser or Power Supply.

I paid another tech to take a second look he said it had to be the ccd because I can print a test print and it looks good.

Do they really put boards in machines to test them, or just hook it up to a tester?

I am doing this machine for free because it is a church and it is their only copier.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

I'm pretty sure Hytec uses computerized testing of boards. Having said that we have had pretty good luck with the Hytec reman / repaired boards. They also have decent technical support as well, for those times when your manufacturer support seems a little weak.

Never used their support, but the repaired stuff we get has been pretty solid.

My guess would be they use board testers. Pretty standard fare.

We just sent them a main board for a bizhub 601 that wouldnt boot up. They said it was "unrepairable" whatever that meant. However, the reman board they sent worked out ok. We are waiting on them to repair a control panel for us. so far no probs.

when I worked for a konica minolta dealer I found that Hytec were more expensive than repaired boards from konica minolta

Normally "unrepairable" means that the failed component isn't available from any source, or the board is cracked and damaged. (not always obvious to the naked eye).

I use Nationwide in Kansas. I think they're a little cheaper and have good support. Fortunately I dont have too many boards blow.

                Totally misdiagnosed the ccd.
Found a known good one and it worked.
Customer sending it back and demanding refund for second board she sent in.

                  Quick update on Hytec.....the crooks.
Sent the CCD back again and they still say it is good and no refunds.
What kind of clip joint are they running? Ripping off a church of all places.
From now on I am sending boards to Nationwide Repair.
                  They are cheaper too.

I personally know that Hytec live tests every board that leaves their facility. For every model machine supported in their catalog they have that machine in house. Hytec also offers free technical support. Their technicians are very knowledgeable and very helpful.

The tech support is good, but prices are high and policies are inflexible. We use Ambassador Tech Svc's in Il. Smaller outfit, not as much offered, but about half the price on power supplies. Very good people.

If they live tested the CCD I sent in, it would have failed. Installed a different CCD and the machine worked.
Found out later that they would only accept money order or certified check to even test the board, no credit card.
Won't talk to me about this account, even though I was the servicing tech and referred the business to them, a mistake I now regret.
Considering the diversity of equipment and models, I seriously doubt they have a working machine for each board to live test.
Their response to the church pastor was "How do I know you are telling me the truth?"!

I use Nation Wide Repair Service in KC. They do test boards in machines, have great tech support and resonable prices compared to Hytec.

I have had great results with Hytec. I have used them is all phases of their biz, i.e. repair, advance exchange, and outright purchase. Been dealing with them for over 15 yrs.

We use both HyTec and NWRS - I have gotten one bad board in from HyTec (we use their hot swap service rather than send stuff in and wait for it to be repaired) and their tech support admitted the board came in with an intermittent problem, but had been repaired and spent over an hour in a live machine. They swapped it out N/C - It should also be noted this was a Ricoh Printer - I have no ideal what they do with other brands / models.
