Re: When PM goes wrong!!
My first service call ever:
Dan & I (both newbies) go out to change a fuser a Mita DC-313Z. We're both nervous. Don't want to screw up on the first ever call. So we remove the heat lamp and put it on a shelf across the room 25 ft away.
The bearings were welded to the heat roller, like normal as we would soon discover, so we removed the outer rings on the HR bearings and slide the whole thing out. We didn't have new bearings, so we're both prying, each of us with a flat blade screwdriver. After considerable effort the rear bearing launches across the room, to land right on that shelf, right in the middle of the heat lamp, breaking it neatly in half. We couldn't have aimed better if we had intended it.
I had the honors of returning to the shop, and explaining what idiots we were, and scavenging a heat lamp from a DC-213RE. To the credit of our manager, he said it happens to all of us, and don't beat yourself up too much over it. Doh! =^..^=
