How can I better explain this???

What would be the best way to explain the difference between console and desktop copier configurations to a customer? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

What specifically? Traditionally a console unit is regarded as a floor/ freestanding device while the desktop/ tabletop is, well small and designed to be on a table/ desk etc.

If you can carry it, it will be a desktop with limited finishing options. If it has wheels (on the MFP or desk unit), it will be a console and virtually unlimited options.
(I have to learn to type faster, you beat me to it blaze.)

I'm thinking not so traditional. Floor standing, feature rich with the capacity of running 2 - 5000 impressions monthly. Compared to larger engine systems that look identical. But anyway I think I have it covered. Thanks for the reply.

You've certainly identified a gray area. In the Copystar line all the Falcon series are considered desktop, but if you actually put it on a desk you'd need a four step ladder to read the panel, or reach the document feeder. Perhaps if you sold it to your local basketball team they could operate it, but none of the office staff could.

In my personal opinion this designation "desktop" has become meaningless. If it were up to me, "desktop" would mean that the MFP could be reasonably operated when placed on a surface 28" to 30" from the floor. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

            Hi
any mfp thath you need to bend-down to operate, will be considered a desk-top.
put m-206 on the floor and ask the customer to operate it(example)
            cheers

To me a desktop copier is one that will not support larger than legal size paper and can be carried by one person.
