When you wake up on May 22, 2012 and realize that there will be no more new episodes of House!
Testing 1-2-3, testing, testing. Is this thing on?

Re: You know your day just went in the toilet when...

Went to fix a 380 code on a ricoh 2238C and found a connector broken.
Opened up the controller and got a handful of toner mixed with fuser oil.
Fixed the wiring harness and now I got a 260 code.
I asked the customer if they had moved it and he said yeah, we laid it on it's back because we were afraid it would fall over in the truck.
I had to tell him that he just hosed his machine and it is going to cost more to fix it than the machine is worth.
He had just bought it for $700 and tried to save money by moving it himself.
Too cheap to buy new or rent.
        What a day.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

$700 lesson. Sad thing is he may or may not learn from it.

...so what's he going to do to replace it? Buy new or rent?

                What a day.
Quite a few years ago I had the same situation: Canon NP-6060 shipped from Florida to Michigan in the back of a tractor trailer. The customer was worried it would tip over so they flopped it on it's back and banded it down with 3/4" metal banding to a pallet.

When they showed it to me I couldn't think of anything to say. They kept asking me "How do we get it upright?" (It's about 600 lbs) I thought "Why bother?"

It took 6 of us to get it on it's wheels. Of all the boards on the back of the machine the largest single piece was the size of a silver dollar. It was a total loss. I scavenged the imaging unit, a fuser, and a few pieces of the RADF. They still had 3 years on the lease.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That was about the best thing that could have happened to a sicky-sicky...I mean 6060 .

Had the movers literally roll a brand new Lanier 5722 (Big Color Toshiba FC-22) off the back of the truck. It never made a single copy in it's short, tragic life.

When you get an email out of the blue from a stranger asking for your street address..............
Then 2 hours later receiving a cease and desist letter from a manufacturer ordering you to stop selling their manuals. There are workarounds though.
