Worst first day on the job.

Just wondering if anyone had a worse first day on the job than I did.

Sept 19, 2005. First day at my current job. I'd been in the day before to do paperwork and such and to get my company car but this was to be my first day of actual work. I was told I could take the car home, which is always a nice perk. I drove the car home and parked in front of my house like I'd done with company vehicles for several years.

Now Sept 19 just happens to be one of two days during the year that at 7:30 in the morning the Sun is shining directly down my street making it almost impossible to drive east on those days.

I stepped out on my porch just in time to see a pickup coming down the street, and I could tell he was too far to the right. Sure enough he caught the left corner of my company car, pretty much eliminating that corner of the car. All I could do was call my boss and tell him I'd be a little late since my car had just got wrecked.

The good thing about starting out this way is that it's unlikely anything worse will happen on the job for a while anyway.

For some reason the boss hasn't let me take a company car home again.

Worst first day for me was not really first day.
Went out to eat the night before and got food poisoning.
Showed up 2 days later. Good thing the service manager was a friend or I would have been fired.

We have a tech who has been with us for some time now...not his 1st day but I think 1st week, he's out doing the old ride along with senior tech being shown the ropes...Senior says "hang out, going to my car for parts"..Newbie waits for about 20 min, goes out to see where senior was and...vanished..car still in parking lot...Turns out "senior" was moonlighting as "enforcer" for Latin Kings...FBI wanted him and hauled him off when he went for parts..."Junior" was stuck with no vehicle, no phone, had to get service # from customer to get supervisor to get him...Guy even asked for his job back when he was released from prison..denied BTW. My first day here wasn't bad, just a little awkward. I had done my interview July 16, 2010, told to start the second following Monday, July 26, 2010. So I show up, service manager has gone and forgot to inform everyone I would be starting that day... Made for quite an awkward day to say the least.

HMMM worst day at work... well how 'bout one day early in my tenure I was helping a salesman(owners son) with a trade in/ repair 1 deal. We picked up a Mita 500D and a 900D. The 900D was to be repaired and returned the 500D trade in. Had both on 1 cart and we tried to take them down the very steep steps on the loading dock. We caught a wheel on the top step spun 90 degrees and both machines landed in my lap with the 900D hitting the ground, totaled. had to tell the customer some BS about being unrepairable.

another day that wasn't my worst day but one of my tech's worst. He stopped by his house for lunch, after lunch he got caught speeding(in the redneck county of the state). Turned out he bounced a check a couple years prior and had a warrent for a $6.00 check. He called me about 1:30 pm and asked me to come bail him out. Sheriff gave me his ATM card for cash, and it took another 4 hours to get his car out of jail. he was gone shortly after that.......

There was the day the deer stepped out in front of the company car on Baldwin Road.

Then three months later there was this other deer on Baldwin Road.

Then a year later there was this other deer that stuck his head through the driver side window ... on Baldwin Road. I think deer really like Scion.

As a young puppy tech, my first day I got a very serious attack of migraine so strong they had to get an emergency ambulance cause I collapsed.

This was the first occasion ever in my life I got migraine (didn't even know what it was until docs explained it to me) and it accompanies me from that day until today on......

I had the best first day of work ever when I started in this industry. I was arriving at the company's rear entrance, looking around, when I saw two technicians running out of the building pushing a Konica 1212 on a caster table. Suddenly one of the casters hits a depression on the ground, the table stops, launching the machine flying and crashing on the floor. Without blinking an eye, the two techies grab the machine, place it on top of the caster table and run back into the building. All this happens in under 10 seconds.

And me, there, looking in astonishment, thinking "I think I'm going to enjoy working here..."

I think the doc was pulling your leg. The migrains that follow you around to this day are called wives.
I just thought I would clear that up incase you too have a migraine ...I mean wife...

That must be why my headaches suddenly stopped about 6 weeks ago.....YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....free at last after a 23 yr sentence......
