    My Statement for Friday

You know my main reason for coming here to to promote my site and get folks to buy my manuals and sometimes to have a few laughs. I'll post an answer to a request about an error code sometimes when the people ask nicely. But with some of these people, they don't even deserve my manuals, sometimes in the way they ask or even demand a manual, especially the first or 2nd time posters. And then some 'hero' comes along and gives the manual to the original poster and what happens next? he is inundated with requests like 'I need it too, my email is....., Can I get a copy too? send it to my email' etc. Even people who don't even have that particular machine want it because it's free.
Over the years there have been many people who will jump in after I post my schpiel (sp?) for a manual and give it away for free. We currently have someone doing it. I won't mention his name, but it doesn't worry me one bit because after awhile like all the others, he'll get tired of sending the manuals and give up being 'Mr. Nice guy'.

Furthermore, even though the manuals being given away look similar to the manuals I sell they are not. I spend between 4 & 8 minutes preparing a manual for sale. I consider myself a VAR. I put bookmarks in the file, highlight and bold the important ones like the error codes, diagrams and schematics, cover page and the parts lists. Depending on the length of the file, I put my link on the bottom of either every page or every other page, it's hardly noticeable but you can click on it and it will take you to my site. I also get rid of some internal information in the file and finally I lock the file so no changes can be made. A lot of my competitors buy manuals from me to put in their sites and if they don't have the tools to work with the files like I do, then my links are still there. I do some major trading with a guy in the Ukraine as well. When he needs something he comes to me first and if I have it I'll send it to him and visa-versa. I just did a major trade with him for some Canon and Xerox manuals. I also have a competitor in Russia who is a slimy ass scumbag. I was over a neighbor's house last year and he wanted to see my site. so I had to type it in. I mis-spelled it and went to 'justmanual.com' imagine my surprise when I saw the site. It took me to this Russian's site. I was floored. So when I got home I started looking into Internet law and domain names. Long story short, just as I can't make a domain name like 'Pepsy.com' he couldn't take my name and mis-spell it for his own use. I contacted an Internet attorney and he told me, yes I have a case. It would cost me $3500 to initiate it and the case would go to arbitration to be settled. He also told me that for $200 he could send this Russkie a letter threatening a lawsuit. Well times have been bad so I didn't opt for that either. What I ended up doing is sending the Russkie an email threatening the lawsuit and telling him it would cost major Rubles for him and in the end he didn't have a leg to stand on and I would win. He folded right up. He asked me for 5 free manuals and he said he'd transfer the domain name. We did the domain transfer and I never sent him the 5 manuals. Haven't heard from him since... LOL.

I spoke to the sysop here the other night. He told me the major complaint of some folks are my posts for the manuals. I have financially supported this site since it's inception. I have a banner ad on the top of the screen and I donate monthly. I just love those gold bars. He allows me to do this because of my support. Lately I have been paring down my posts. A lot of the newer posts have to do with connectivity and 'scan to email' scan to folder' type of issues and I don't even think a manual will help in those instances, so I don't post. I try to make a morning pass and one in the evening. If you need to contact me it's best to do it in email to Paul@justmanuals.com. I am at my terminal most of my waking hours and when I wake up in the middle of the night, I check my email.

One final detail I'd like to go mention was this recent nonsense with Gregg who fortunetely is no longer with us. He seemed to be obscessed with me. The one thing he was right about is that my 'wife' Karen is not really my wife. We have been together for 16 years, she is my girlfriend, my best friend, lover etc but in the eyes of the law we are not married. He seemed to be overly concerned that I referred to her as my wife. In actuality and legal terms we have a domestic partnership. NOT that it was ANY OF HIS BUSINESS. I also met her online wayyyyyyyy before it became fashionable. I am also NOT a pedophile regardless of what his background check turned up on me. What an asshole.
I'll get off my soapbox now.

    Best Regards;

Paul...For me, a seasoned tech of 30 years, I would like to say you provide an excellant servive here on copytechnet.. I have no prblem with seeing your advertisements in forums..The ONLY reason I've not purchased from you is I am a certified rep for several manufacturs and have full access to all service info through their websites. I'll just say that if I ever DO need to get manuals, etc., I'll come to you first..
And to all you complainers about Paul out there, buy his manuals, etc.. He even has some test charts..He is a wealth of information

      Re: My Statement for Friday

As you all probably know, Paul has my support.

I've been challenged with 14 manufacturers and 247 unique models, just in my current customer base. I can count on one hand the number of times Paul didn't have the appropriate manual. I won't walk into a call without a manual. It's just unprofessional to walk into a call and scratch your head. Certain manufacturers do a better job on their manuals than others, but it's an absolute necessity.

My only criticism is that you can let your temper get away from you. Don't let these cheapskates get your goat.
Thanks for providing this service to us Paul. I couldn't do it without you. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Re: My Statement for Friday

I have said it before. I have no problem with Paul. If I need a manual and do not have it I can (usually ) get it from Paul. I do ignore most of his post that post his website. I have also traded with him for a manual I did not have and got what I needed. If I do not need a manual I overlook his post and go on. Some of his rants I read for the amusement factor. Some times I agree with Paul and sometimes I do not. sometimes he starts things he should not and other times some one else starts and he responds. As to the reputation button,,, I could care less what others think of me. You can use my advice or ignore it. This is the same advice I give on Paul's post you can either accept it or ignore but why get bent out of shape over it?
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Thank you all for your support. I am humbled.

          Best Regards and Happy Holidaze,

          Paul

I'll be asking the sysop to put up a sticky for me in the 'service manual requests' forum. From 12/24 to Jan. 2nd I'll be running a special where as all manuals will be $11.00. End of year special, get em while their hot. No special codes or coupons needed.

(did you really think I was going to post a couple of times without plugging my site???)

Although i have been on this site for a couple of years, it is only more recently i have become active. I have wandered through many old post and have seen many posts for Pauls manuals. It does not deflect from the forum and are instantly reconisable so easy to pass over them without spoiling your read, so why would anyone feel the need to complain. We all come on here to find help or get help and each and everyone on here can help in different ways. Pauls help and support is beyond value to those that need his products, I have not bought from him due to the fact i work for a manufacture but if i ever need a manual i know who my first port of call would be. He proberbly contributes more than anyone on this site in funding and halps keep the site running, and maybe, just maybe without his support the site might not be profitable to continue so we all lose out. I back Paul 100% and he has helped just as many people on here as the next man or tech, maybe more. You provide a service that is needed and you provide that service in a professionable manner and as long as you are treated with respect you return the respect ten fold.

Been there, done that... True, it was to piss off Paul I don't even remember anymore why I did it.

Agree 100% with the rest of your text, LOLed with the russian guy story, but I should add something: When a guy marries the girl he loves and she stops being his girlfriend, then the marriage will be a short one. To me, the "girlfriend" status has a higher stance than "wife" status - a "wife" is just a formalized girlfriend, without it it's just a meaningless signed paper.

Am I making any sense here? It's 1am, and I'm dozing already.

                      Cheers!

Hey Paul. Don't sweat it. You just keep doing what you do. If someone has a problem with it, well, they have a problem. You have a right to do what you do. Does that mean people will not give free manuals? No, it doesn't. I have given a free manual before, because someone gave me one. You even hit my rep once and called me an asshole. That's OK though. No hard feelings here. Had you not been on this site, there would be a lot of techs that would not have been able to obtain manuals. You provide a needed service, so keep it up. Here is a post from the past below. You have our support.

                        Re: manuals 4 you

Where is the LOVE. Manuals for You is a great resource for documentation for what we do. Before I found this web site, I had no idea how to find manuals. Now I do. He is just trying to make a living just like the rest of us. We, or I, live in a free country. I can post what I want, or choose to ignore what I want. This right was gave to me by those persons willing to give the ultimate sacrifice. Mine is not to judge.
