    British Soldier

I don't know how much this news has reached the rest of the world, but here in the UK we are completely in shock at the horrific and barbaric murder of a soldier in the middle of a busy street in the middle of the afternoon. This happened right in the middle of my patch, only 15 miles from where I live now, and it is where I spent most of my Saturdays as a teenager.
I just saw this on Facebook and it brought tears to my eyes

I read the story yesterday and can't really give a coherent response. For me it a free speech issue. That poor solider was slaughtered for what he was wearing. That should never happen, I don't care what your religious convictions are. I support soldiers from all of our allies, my heart goes out to his family.

I like to think I'm a liberal minded person and don't really care who you are or what you believe in but when hear of atrocities like this you start to think that may be Enoch Powel might have been right.

Hate to get on this rant but what the hell. I've done it before. We keep hearing it's a peaceful religion. Actually everytime theres a slaughter we're told they're a peaceful religion. All I've seen is uncivilized barbarians.

That is truly awful. If appropriate, prayers for the soldier and his family. Also to everyone else in the area that such barbarism doesn't happen again. And a desire to see that those two people that committed that get the appropriate justice.
(As I probably played a part in the local military some time in the past, I have very strong feelings on this, but they aren't helpful right now.)

Amazing the Crusade mentality still exists in Islam.

The West, thankfully, was able to evolve religion with a little thing known as Enlightenment.

This was an atrocity committed by two evil individuals against someone who meant them no harm, plain and simple. Read the poem Debs posted again and understand what it says.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Please don't let this become an anti-Islam thread, when we choose to retaliate against a group of people because we disagree with their views, have we not dropped to a level below where we should be. This has nothing to do with true Muslims, I have family and friends who are Muslims, they are as disgusted as me at the attrocities that are being carried out in the name of their religion.

                      Ku Klux Klan.jpg

I am not anti-Islam, nor will I ever be. I am actually anti-religion (not anti-religious people, I was brought up Catholic, my parents are still very active in their church)
Christianity, just a couple of months ago, cost a young girl her life in Ireland, she was pregnant and in the process of miscarrying her baby, the hospital refused to carry out a termination of a pregnancy, that would not have lasted to term anyway, as a result, the poor girl died. This is because of Christian teachings.

The horrifying thing about the incident 2 days, was the truly barbaric nature of the attack. A soldier, minding his own business, walking down the street, is first of all rammed by a car that drove onto the pavement to run him over, then the 2 attackers jumped out of the car and with a huge amount of weapons in hands, hacked him to death. According to reports, he was beheaded (or attempted to be beheaded) in front of passers by, in the middle of the afternoon, in a busy London Street. They then insisted on by videoed while trying to justify their actions, still waving knives and machetes, with hands that were bright red with the victims blood.

Please don't lower ourselves to the level of the scum who carried out this attack by mindless retaliation.

I always thought that without religion there'd be no war....but then someone will find some other reason to justify their deeds....I can't understand why they "justified" their actions by saying it was because of the soldiers killing muslims in Afghanistan & Iraq....then saying the Cameron should "bring OUR soldiers home"....this has nothing whatsoever to do with religion...no sane person would carry out an act like that....the sad thing is....time & resources are being wasted treating these people in hospital, then they'll probably get life...for which they'll serve 5 years....why not shut them in the barracks with the comrades of the dead soldier...see how big & brave they are then...as Dave Allen always said.."may your god go wtih you"...
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

It was a very horrific act indeed! My condolence to the bereaved family of the soldier and the British people.
I totally agree with Debs that the thread should not turn into anti- Islam platform. In all Religions there are ignorant people with radical and extremist views who stupidly believe they can please God by killing in His name or Religion; God wants nothing of the sort! We know of muslims who kill fellow Muslims in Muslim countries, the same thing happens in Christianity (Northern Ireland..just to remind). Early this week, one of our Dailies reported the horrific incident of rape and murder of an 8 year old girl who had gone with her mother for an 'overnigh't prayer in one of the numerous 'Born again' churches in the city suburb.
The story is that at around 3am at night the young girl left her mother in the church to go and answer natures call a few yards away from the church, where she met her death in the hands of the 'gang' rapists who strangled her to death in the process. Waiting for her daughter to return.. in vain, the mother got concerned, alerted the church authority and a frantic search for the girl began. Police was called in a few hours later and discovered the lifeless body of the girl a few meters from the church premises! No arrests have been made so far. It is really a very wicked world we are living in, a wickedness not about to end anytime soon.

It will take people who believe that all life is precious, to come together and put people in charge who believe the same way. It is so easy to see another culture as evil when you have never met them. I have noticed that when civilized people of different beliefs get together and have respect for each other, they get along great. The person who is my contact for my most used copier is Muslim from Morocco. His name is Muhammad and he is one of the nicest people I know. I think he would be really cool as a neighbor.

We have to recognize we are at war with "radical islamists" not muslims right now. (Weather we want to be or not they have declared it so against us way before Afghanistan and Iraq) It's not just one group of people but a mindset among certain people that have not moved on from the middle ages. They abuse people in their own countries and religion too. The sad thing is about that soldier in London, it looks like a similar parallel to what happened here in Boston. We had some individuals motivated by their "religion" and hate. They hated us so much but came here to abuse our freedoms and such.
