He has decided that this one of mine takes some beating, so I have to start this thread

About 20 years ago I was working on a Xerox 1025 and had to get to the rear of the machine, as I pulled the machine out I knocked the fire extinguisher off the wall next to it, as it fell, the safety pin fell out and it landed on the trigger, what are the chances of that! Luckily for me this machine was not in a posh office, but in a local council building department in a portakabin, it was filled with men in jeans and work boots who saw the funny side of it. It took ages to clean the foam from the walls, ceiling, etc. but the copier was lovely and clean when I finished

Come on, we have plenty more stories like this, but I want to read about yours
I have a fire bottle related incident to report but of course it wasnt my fault!!!!!!!
So I'm working on a Mita 313z back in the day and I'm yanking and cleaning clutchs on the back of the pig. When finished with reassembly I ran a copy or 2 and start smelling burning wires........ so did the secretary who I knew pretty well thankfully. I have a look at the back of the machine and there is now smoke and a little flame so I had to shoot it with a fire extinguisher, just a quick blast and it was all over except for the heavy embarrassment. I had knocked my little bottle of 99% Iso alcohol over and it had run along the back frame and of course the TnS corona had a small short and set it a blaze, just one of those scratch your head fuck me moments for sure.

Two of the contact wires came out of the socket and are twisted beyond repair. The plastic and the shielding of the socket are damaged too.

OK, removed the socket from the board (*note to oneself, with the next booboo buy a decent de- soldering equipment*) and reconstructed everything. Machine is up and working now until my next goof-up........

Congratulations Hans. I knew you could do it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

a few days ago I pulled a dumb move. while cleaning the optics, I grab the exposure glass, clean one side then flip it over to clean the other side. As I was wiping it, my rag hits the slit glass and sends it flying. I hits the ground in the only place that is not carpeted in the office, and it brakes into 5 pieces with the customer watching. Out of my mouth comes "dam it". realizing I said it out loud. oops. The customer sees the look on my face and started laughing, red faced, I excuse my self and make a quick run to the shop for another one. As I walked back in the office, the comtomer just smiled at me and left the office till I was done.

Working on a MP C5000 today. Disconnected the network cable so that no print jobs would come in while I was working on it. Almost made it back to the office before they called that they could not print or scan.

Yep, but I did make it back to the office. Had to tell them how to reconnect the cable.

Well if they stopped asking to scan and print, this wouldn't be an issue now, would it?

A while back, I had an MP4000 that needed a developer change. Over time I have found it easier to remove the toner bottle holder, vacuum out all the used toner out of the auger and holding area, and then put the stopper found on the front of the drum unit into the chute on the drum unit rather than use the piece of paper between the drum and developer chutes (way less messy as well).
I went back later for light prints and error codes. I pulled out the PCU to clean the ID sensor, and when I went to push it back in, I found the stopper was still in the opening of the chute, as well as the generous amount of toner the machine tried to feed spilled all over. D'oh. (The 35/45 cpm machines have a fin on the stopper to prevent this, but the stopper on the MP4000 fits perfectly.)
As I was leaving the call, I almost got stuck in a snow drift that unbeknownst to me had formed behind my car while I was inside. I had to rock the car out, and I discovered that while traction control is great most of the time when at speed, it does the opposite of help when trying to rock a car out of a snow drift. Once I got the car free, I noticed that the other vehicles in that area of the lot were full size SUVs and pickups, most with four wheel drive. Again, d'oh.

I can't count the number of times I have forgotten to pull the piece of paper, actually I use a piece of the developer bag, out and had to go back because of light copies. Usually as soon as tthe light copy call comes in, I know what the problem is.

How many MP4000's have you come across that didn't need a developer change?

I replaced print heads on two C353 and mysteriously had the same blotchy-void copy quality issues afterwards.

Not having replaced these print heads in months or a year, I realized I wasn't removing the Transfer Belt and the blotchy-void problem was my sweaty hand prints from fighting to get the PH unit out.

                              Dumb, embarrassing, and costly.

Several months ago, I drove one of the outside cars just close enough to the garage door that it went up fine but got caught on the bumper of that car when coming down.
Of course, when the garage door failed to close completely I first thought that one of the sensors was blocked and cleaned them. But when the door failed to close after that, I became a button mashing moron, and BANG! the door drive cable holder broke.
I was able to fix that, but I failed to notice that the drive system was way out of time. So the next time I pushed the button the door did go down all of the way, and then continued to try to go down until the the track pulled itself out of the wall of the garage with another bang. I actually came pretty close to losing a pair of underwear that time.
I finally got around to actually repairing the thing entirely last weekend, and it pretty much took the entire weekend to do that.
                                D'oh.
