Still nothing going on at the Decorah nest, but there was an eagle at the Alcoa nest. It was eating a squirrel by the looks of the fur blowing around. No eggs there yet, though.

Looks like the Decorah nest cam is back online, although there was nothing going on there the last time I checked.

The people who ran the camera in Decorah are building the base for an eagle's nest next to the old site to see if there are any takers:
Raptor Resource Project Blog: N2B, or the New Decorah Nest
And they are considering putting a camera at a rather huge nest in the area just north of where the original nest cam was (a nest that is seven by nine feet in size and could weigh around 1700 pounds, how about that):

Might be something to see here before too long after all...

Well, it looks like the Decorah eaglecam is done for a while. Here's the Raptor Resource blog post on that:
Raptor Resource Project Blog: Decorah: the eagles, N2, and our plans
The Alcoa eaglecams are still operating, so there's that.
I think the Alcoa eagles are younger than the Decorah eagles. The past couple of seasons there's only been one egg in the Alcoa nest, and last season it was broken. We'll hope they have a better season this time.

They actually have another nest out of camera range but nearby, they raised their chicks there for a couple of years a while back. I don't know if that one was affected by the storm.

Thanks for the update. Please let us know when Priscillah and Mochamomma have selected their new nesting area.

That nest was getting quite large. Not any more. =^..^=

I don't know if you've checked on this recently, but some energetic weather clobbered the tree the nest was in as well as the camera last week:

Sounds like the entire lot of them are still OK, so there's that. Probably won't be seeing the vid stream for some time to come though.

It apparently made a full recovery a few hours after we freed it, though. Kinda neat to see it fly away.

Looks like the chick fluff has been mostly replaced with black feathers now.
Also, here's a vid of the parents feeding the chicks.

    Re: Eaglecam: First feathers

D21 has her first feathers. Like the chicken they seem to develop in tubes which they peck open. They sure are homely at this stage. Faces only a mother could love. Without a reference I'm guessing that they're about the size of your laying hens.

The video is showing all three of the chicks now. Two of them are walking around and the third one is just laying there (it is breathing and occasionally moves a wing, so it is probably just tired).
And now one of the adult eagles came back to the nest with a fish and is feeding the chicks.

It's still just a 3/8" hole in the shell with something fuzzy and wiggly inside. =^..^=
