sr-3150 i think with the booklet maker. staple head goes out of alignment. I recently had the whole of the inside removed and in bits to realign the unit, the dev units are hit and miss and it doesn't help you can't just replace the dev. ive had the pt roller stick giving patchy copies, the ITB unit shreds? the pf drive unit bends a pin giving a clicking sound - twice i've had that. the fusers are yuk.

today the black dev unit shredded a drive gear - ripped the teeth to shreds.

oh and ive had the cyan toner hopper worm screw bend and buckle to stop the toner being dropped into the dev unit.

I cant believe that they have got this so wrong when the previous range was a really good machine. I dont think ive seen many parts hit the pm cycle - bugger knows what will happen when the crappy toner hits them at my place!

Yes, but you are like me. You try to stay on top of the firmware updates. Other than SC 899, I haven't had many actual machine problems. I have had problems from customers moving their machines and using the infeed guide to the finisher as a lift point and bending the lower guide plate for the entry roller to where paper could not get through.

I did have one where the latch cam on the Right Intermediate Transfer Stopper got broken off and caused ID sensor errors. The right end of the ITB would move slightly when the shutter was opened and prevented the shutter from completely clearing one of the sensors.

We think they're OK (just) as well. However one of our country dealers is complaining bitterly about the single pass DF, claiming that they never work. We have a sizable fleet of them in Bris and the SPDF seems no better or worse than all the other models. Anybody else having issues with the Single Pass DF?
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Any LIKID, as we called them way back when.
Dry toner, hands down Minolta EP-410 and 4230.
4230 was nicknamed the jamamatic. Main feed was expensive to rebuild and would only last 50K.
The engineer who designed the fuser on the 410, should be condemned to an eternity of rebuilding it.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

The only problem I have had with SPDF is the gears that drive the timing belt that drives the pickup roller. The machine is heavily used for scan to folder and is located in a high dust area. Currently close to 300K on the SPDF. It is a petroleum construction company and all time sheets and job report get scanned to the Bakersfield office.

Judging by posts placed on this site I would say xerox, canon, sharp, and kyocera have and are leading the way. i feel sorry for techs that have to work on anything else. This may have been said before but I think minolta needs to go away with ricoh following close behind, or get better support and design. Other makes are not worth mentioning in my opinion. If sharp improves drum unit design they will pass canon and be right next to xerox. that is just my opinion and sorry for any redundancies.

Nope, can't say I've had many problems with the DF at all, they're a lot more reliable than the 02 series that has so many problems with various sensors failing, although I have heard others say the Metis suffers from the same thing I can't say I've come across it yet

Anything with a rotary/carousel colour unit.. sure lets make a machine designed to throw toner around at high speed, what could go wrong?
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.

Konica color boxes as a whole, 7728 9028. This is why it's Konica Minolta now, Konica could make a reliable color copier.

And Konica's B&W machines weren't known for their quality either.

I always liked the early Konicas. I felt like the merger was when they tanked. Minolta bankrupted their company so Konica hands the reins of their to the bad managers? makes sense to me. Minolta was always the driving force behind their color though.

                            Oh well...all ancient history now.

I'm told it's actually been faulty toner bottles causing the void lines, etc. that so many of have seen on the Metis series. Trainer showed me a couple of tiny black clumps he said came out of a Metis toner bottle. These get worked into the dev units and cause voids.

I've seen so many bad batches of toner since these things came out...
