Are you serious!? No wonder I enjoy this job, couldn't think why!!!

who will be the first manufactuer to design a colour machine that has NO waste toner!? After all toner is so expensive & we're litterally throwing it away on a daily basis!

I would think the solution would have to be something ridiculous, perhaps a Rube Goldberg machine that separates all the yellow, black, cyan and magenta toner and reinserts it into the DV unit.

This thread reminds me of one of my tales that I have posted at least twice before. The old Minolta Di520. It had a waste toner bin that would hold about 5 pounds worth. I would empty them into a trash bag. On one occasion, on the top floor of the Special Ops Command, I had emptied the bin, stood up, lifting the bag, and it happened. I can still see in slow motion as the bottom of the bag split and started to open and like a waterfall it all came out. As it hit the floor, it started walking out, in a cloud. When it got to the walls of the copy room, it started walking up the walls. I was there for over 2 hours with a trash can full of water, and a case of paper towels trying to clean it up. That was at least 10 or 11 years ago, and to this day, you can still see toner stains on the ceiling. Also, I double bag it now.

I sometimes reference that when having a crappy day. It can be worse.

Wouldn't have to separate it, it would be 'processed black'?

Wow that spillage sounds nasty!

The thing is ALL manufacturers provide DISPOSABLE waste toner boxes, so we should NEVER be empting them, if we are then is our fault, nowhere in service manuals does it say "empty" only "replace"
After all WT boxes are so cheap?
infact after reading this post the next "empty waste toner" call I get i'm simply going to order a new one & walk out! Remeber when asbestos was harmless!???

Theoretically yes, as long as the mix was perfect across the board, but all the waste toner I see tends to have strong magenta tinges to it giving it a puke brown/purple colour.

There's nothing wrong with asbestos, a good coat of lead based paint will hold all those fibres together!

Been there, done similar. Heavy gauge bag. Went to pick the bag up and it caught on the bottom corner of the machine.

Had a customer with a Gestetner 3502 one time who decided she needed to shake the toner bottle after removing the outer cap.

I remember back in the anal log (intentional) day's when John Q Public found out about ozone emissions from the copier!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh what an office danger they thought that was....................................
