That pic is not mine, but that seen is familiar in my house. They love bacon, and Dexter, the one we found under a car hood last fall will eat most anything. He can be so annoying when you are trying to eat, that at times my wife or daughter will put him in the bathroom. I just finished feeding the feral ones in the front yard. Two are ones we raised from kitten, who decided they wanted outside permanently. One went wild and would not come near humans. The other prefers outdoors but still loves human contact. We bring him in during bad weather. The third is a wild cat that we have been feeding since he was a kitten. When I go out in the morning to feed them, the two wild cats become the most loving things you have seen. They are rubbing me, letting me scratch them, and knocking my hand at the exact moment I am putting food in a bowl, so I dump a portion on the ground. As soon as they eat, I get hissed at again. I feel so used.

I've got one black feral that I put food on the front porch for. He's about 8 or 9 years old and had been through a TNR program. His mother is now an indoor cat. About 8 years ago she was sniffing around the corner of the screen door so I opened it and she came in.

Lately, there have been a couple of possums that come up on the porch in the evening and eating what food is left. One adult and one juvenile. Probably mother and child.

It looks like I'll be getting a little change of scenery starting the week of 08 September. Mrs. blackcat will be getting the first of two knee replacements, and will require some convalescence.

I have a couple of cats that go crazy at the smell of pork cooking. We won't let them have any. Pork fat is not good for cats. One did steal a slice of bacon right off my plate when it was a kitten. It still tries.

On one occasion Amber just couldn't wait for her portion (the last bite). She grabbed the whole pork chop and ran. I found it well gnawed the next day. On another occasion, I don't know which cat, maybe Montague?, grabbed a hot dog out of a pot of warming water on the stove, and left about 1/3 of it on the kitchen floor. I think the worst was when Amber found a coffee cup of congealed bacon fat on the counter, and consumed about 3 oz. ... and was really sick for the next two days. Bacon fat is a great laxative for cats.

On to Mrs. blackcat:
Step #1) Tooth removed. It still bleeds on and off, but the mouth pain is gone. It was a good distraction while it lasted. She's got a great bruise developing over the left side of her face.
Step #2) Monday: Left Knee. =^..^=

Step 1) Better have a notarized letter from the dentist explaining the bruise. Saves trouble later from busy bodies.
Step 2) Blood thinners should have completely worn off by Monday. Will continue to pray for successful surgery.

She's got a special blood thinner for the next few days. It's an injectable something-or-other, and I get the pleasure of giving the shots. I'll have to add Phlebotomist to my resume.

First knee complete. Surgery lasted 1 1/2 hours, but they spent another 1 1/2 preparation, figuring out how to position the prosthesis.

She's been really sick from the 3+ hours under anesthesia. I called this afternoon and asked if she wanted a visitor. The answer was no. She's a little bit crabby right now. The anesthesia was fully worn off by this morning, and I think she has a new definition of pain.

The bath tile is mostly complete:

Nice tiling job, never thought of using a cat as a squeegee to wipe up the excess grout.
Mrs BC is in for a bad time over the next week, right now she's wondering why she agreed to have the op done. But slowly, slowly it will get better and she will be delighted to walk again without pain.

Mrs L has just had a skin cancer cut off her lower eyelid and now has a ripper of a black eye. I've asked her to wear a card around her neck stating "My husband is not responsible for this" but she has declined.

Sudden after thought.....while you've got the toilet pan out consider replacing it with a disabled / handicapped one as their about 2 inches higher. It doesn't sound much but anything that helps crook knees will be appreciated. A good solid grab handle to help pull yourself off the dunny will go down a treat as well when Mrs BC gets home.

High toilets are great for non disabled people as well. I have one in my bathroom and I like it a lot. Now when I sit on a normal height toilet I feel like I am going to fall in and it is tough getting back up. lol

They've already got her hobbling around the hallways on her walker. Mrs. blackcat is turning down the painkillers, since they make her dizzy, or unsure of her footing. There's a certain amount of numbness with the associated foot that is supposed to improve with exercise.

When Mrs. blackcat was taking her medical terminology classes, I was assigned the task of randomly combining prefixes and suffixes to test her skills. I believe Mrs. Lagonda has had a blepharectomy. Of all the ridiculous things to remember ...

I've reinstalled the toilet for her arrival tomorrow. =^..^=
