Any of you guys EVER seen this?

Aftermarket separation roller newly installed 3 weeks ago. Now this customer and many others with the same type of roller installed are calling for paper jams. The PU material is so soft that the pressure on it is causing a huge indentation.

    Yikes!

I remember that very same issue 25 years or so ago on Canon paper decks.(The NP6650 and NP8530 in particular)

Granted, they lasted longer than 3 weeks, but not by a lot.

And that was with factory parts.

You did a lousy job hiding the manufacturer's name - was that on purpose?

You should track down some of those older U shaped roller forms and hack that gel down to size. I would hazard a guess that the added support of the U bracket might make the indentation less prevalent, what with the roller/gel being formed to it a little better.

I'm spitballing at ways to get some use out of terrible material. I mean, the paper is obviously too hard here...

Katun stuff sucks. Why use aftermarket when OEM is less than twenty dollars for ALL THREE?

Back in my Canon days OEM feed rollers with 150K copies worked better than new K**** rollers just out of the package. Complete crap. =^..^=

Aftermarket fused rollers were the worst.

No matter which brand, they ALL sucked, big time.

I haven't seen that in years. I think the last time I saw that was on the rollers between the fuser and sorter on Canon NP6085s. But those rollers were close to ten years old then, and if you didn't catch them in time the rubber part of the roller would assume the viscosity of pudding.
That's also weird as when the Riso GRs came out with feed tires that were the same blue color they were harder than anything we had ever seen before.

I had this sep roller and to the best of my knowledge it was OEM. Since we use vendor branding and in parts manuals the numbers were different, so I can't back track, but this for sure was on hard roller and I ditched it as it would wear out the orange feed roller twice as fast and still causing no feed jams. I wonder if the torque limiter was actually the problem, as it seems to me that this roller definitely suffered from it.
Have had these flats on C550 when the LCT tray 3,4 main drive was causing intermittent jamming.
Or weak sep. roller spring in the bracket. Not enough force to turn the sep. roller so it just slides the paper along and gives it a shave.

Just checked that picture enlarged and that looks like the roller has been bullied by the feds.... Hahaha
Sucks that you have to change the lot .. Again!
Might be wise make couple beforehand and just swap it on flight.

Ha! we were cleaning out old desk drawers in the shop awhile back, found a set of those.. Initially I asked our Riso guru what they were for, he basically said they were useless..
