I suspect he means that you make a pyramidal "peak" on the box, so the shipper cannot stack other heavy stuff (like a gross of bowling balls) on top of your MFP. Really, its the same reason Konica Minolta sends their drum and developing units in parallelogram shaped boxes. It's more difficult to stack them on their ends, so it discourages you from doing so. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for the info. I never knew that was why they shaped the boxes that way. Makes sense.

Ricoh has started attaching card board pyramids on top of palatalized items that say DO Not Stack prior to shipping. Now I know why.

A company I used to do work for used stick Tip'n and Tell patches on the boxes/crates and machines. We would know real fast upon delivery if the box had been in any position other than upright the entire time. Delivery drivers and the guys working in the shippers distribution centers hated seeing those.

A lot of people just don't understand.....just that the exterior packaging looks ok, doesn't me the contents are.

I've set up two Kyoceras that the external packaging and covers were undamaged, but the doors wouldn't close, and the frame severely bent. Clearly, the machines took a beating somewhere on the production line, then rather than admit they was damaged, new covers were found, and off they went to me.

I can imagine some workman on the line explaining to his floor supervisor: "If you hold the door just like this paper will pass ... ok, it jams. But maybe the dealer can fix it." =^..^=

We got in two new Ricohs a few years ago. The outside packing appeared OK but after unboxing, one had a bent frame. This was Friday afternoon. My boss said that they had to be delivered Monday afternoon. It took me about 4 hours Saturday but I got it straightened to where it worked.

It took nearly 6 hours each to straighten out the frames, and get the doors to stay closed. After all the talk of extraordinarily high production quality, I was a bit disappointed to find such a major fault obviously covered over. =^..^=

I had sold some Ricoh color printers and had them delivered to the customer still boxed. Two of them were covered in yellow starter like they had been tumbled. Customer refused to take them and I had to order 2 more.

Bugger straightening out the frames, in the company I work for its DOA. If the customers ordered 16 machines and one is damaged like that they will get 15 and another one later.

You guys have not experienced DOA's like Konika Minolta B36 B42 models. We would have like four of them in the shop at a time because of all kinds of errors. Bad SSD modules, bad power supplies, bad scanner units. Laser Writer ribbon cables plug in upside down and scanner compression errors. And many more weird problems.

Golden rule. Never unbox a machine at the customer.

I've had that with a few KM machines.. We got in this shipment of bizhub 250s, one box was shredded but the mfp was ok, next box was ok, went to open it and it was smashed beyond use. The scanner glass broken and the scanner bed bent down and the side covers cracked.

Just today we got in a set of those stupid put together desks(who ever thought those were a good idea is beyond me) for a 364e, it's all bent up but the box is fine.
