    The Much Maligned MPC305

Is it me, or is the MP C305 the apocalyptically terrible chunk of crap the world has ever known?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Have a little faith...Ricoh can and will screw it up a little more in the next model.

I agree not a great model, the worst issue I have seen so far is bent toner bottle contacts, had one bend on a new install, K toner not reconised, the first time I saw this I replaced the board, but now it is possible to bend the contact back with a long flat blade driver.

            Anyone else seen this issue!?

Scanner plate in one of my 305s acts up and slips loose a little, giving some slack to the belt that drives the scanner carriage. The scanner will go out fine, but slip on the return trip and code out.

First attempted fixes were just re-tightening. Then moved on to loc-tite. Loc-tite did not do the trick and it has now been glued into place.
We'll see how long the glue holds.

50K making a horrific grinding/crunching noise. Not good when fuser is spewing a gray gritty substance, further inspection revealed AB012077 press roller idler gear disintegrating. Also found fusing sleeve scored and p/r coming apart at the ends. After replacing fusing sleeve, p/r, and 3 gears, got a SC542-00 and found out it's cheaper to replace the whole fuser D1174025 than to mess about changing parts. "Much maligned" isn't strong enough.

I have a customer with at least 200 of these little "gems", and they are all running Streamline NX.

                  Did that get your sympathy?

I have never, ever pulled so many parts off a copier just to change a feed clutch! Oh by the way, while your in there change the rego clutch as well as they seem to come with a generous coating of factory installed rust.

Yeah seen a few of the fuser pressure levers break, can we just order the lever? Is it easy to replace?
