    Hello from Knoxville TN

New to the forum. Been in the business since 1989, servicing mostly HP and Xerox with a few others sprinkled in there.

I came to the forum because I am having trouble with a Ricoh MP 161. After replacing the upper fuser roller, I got an error SC542 because I accidentally left a screw loose on the heat lamp. I assume that's what caused the error. For good measure I replaced the lamp and thermistor.

Now I can't get into service mode (aka SP mode) to reset the code. I've tried "clear modes" (the yellow button) then 107 and hold the clear/stop button for at least five seconds. I've tried it too many times to count. Nothing happens.

I tested the operator panel buttons with an ohm meter. They tested good.

    Any suggestions?

I know this is the newbie area. I will look for a more appropriate place to post my question. I am open to suggestions for best place to search and post about my problem.

    Thank you and Merry Christmas,
    Andy

            Welcome! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
