    Adding forum moderators?

Seems that we here lack some moderation. It appears that our administrator is the only one who can deal with spammers and only sporadically checks in. If there were some forum moderators these spammers would get canned sooner or maybe right at the start by moderating newbie posts for the first little while.

I know a few of us have made the offer to Aneurysm in the past.

Like most of us here, he also works in a regular job and as far I as know really doesn't get paid for this headache. So sometimes he cannot respond even as fast as he would like. That being said, I have LARGE KUDOS to the man. Salute Sir!

Now there are ways, that we the general user, can help.

      1) write a PM to Aneurysm with the Post (spam) include the OP user details.
      2) Throw the RED FLAG on obvious violations of Forum Rules (Reputation Star lower left of post)
      3) Report the post (triangle icon beside the Rep Star ** spam - hate speech - fighting -illegal activity**)

Depending on the number of posts from the user, I usually comment and flag ... flagging can only be used once (?) on a user (until you spread more rep around)

Most times you'll find one or two 'flurries' of posts from these types and then they drop that
account and start a new account a week or so later.

I have found that A PM to Aneurysm is not really needed. Reporting the post in effect sends a special alert to him. Enough people report the same post/poster and they are gone.

I will be the first to admit I wouldn't be a good moderator. With my temperament there wouldn't be many members left!

The real shame is this could be avoided if the forum was passworded. This way a new member would have to supply some "legit" info to join. This would include a "real" email they would have to respond to activate membership. I know you can make fake emails but along with some "minor" verification it would help.

Perhaps a separate section for end users to get "free info" from real techs (well most here are "real techs")

Login passwords are already required. Most of us tend to forget this since we click the Remember Me box and don't have to login again until we use a different device.

When new members register they are required enter a valid email address. A welcome email is then sent to that email address to verify the account. Until they verify the address by answering that welcome email they are restricted on what they can do.

As for temperament, you should not feel so all alone.

Adding some additional moderators is needed and is in the works but it's probably 90-120 days out, I have some back-end work to do before it can be properly implemented.

I had a feeling there was some behind the scenes work to be done!

My thought is that Aneurysm has some people in mind and is in the process of doing some vetting when his day job lets him.
