Unless Aneurysm gets around to appointing some moderators and at least one more administrator, the next best option would be for one of us or a group of us to try to purchase the rights to the URL when the nest renewal date comes up. Aneurysm could then be hired to administer the database as well provide training documentation to one or more of us. We would then also be able to talk to software support people at vBulletin.

As far as the site going down completely, that would be a problem for the hosting service to take care of.

It's just a pipe dream, however it removes the work of the moderator(s) to locate the spam.

I wonder what kind of money it would take to purchase this site?

Considering there are still SPAM posts in the Newbie Check-in and the accounts used to create that SPAM are still active, I'd say not a whole lot.

Probably just checking the porn links that I send him once every six months.

                    Re: spammers

I'm gonna say this and then I'm gonna leave it alone because I'm so grateful to this site and it's owner for allowing me to come to this place in which I've learned SO much.

I just don't understand why the site owner won't appoint a moderator or two. This spam problem is so easily correctable. What's more, we have so many (not me ) great candidates that would make outstanding moderators. It just doesn't make sense to me that the spam problem has been allowed to take over this site for as long as it has.
