Started in 2001 and haven't looked back. This job has its ups, downs and WTF moments. I started off with Sharp SF/SD analog machines as they were starting to come out of the field. Then from analog to digital, then to color, and now networking.

Hi guys ,well finished today after 41 years in the buisness started with Rank Xerox on the 720/914/660 back in 1973
So pleased not to be doing the 35/40 thousand miles a year now.

9 years copier service. Field service tech 15 years, Started when i was 17 and have worked for 3 companies total.

24 years for me. Was a Radar engineer for 5 years before that. Been through different systems, countries, companies and manufactures. Serviced Konica, Ubix, Harris 3M, Lanier, Selex, Toshiba, Canon, Ricoh, Sharp, Kyocera. It looks like the average years of techs in this forum is about 25 years! Glad to be here!

We have all posted what we work on, what we like and dont like to work on lets see numbers of years we have been doing it. Im at 25 years.

It sounds even more painful that 25 years in the field. In your case you are blindfolded, and at the mercy of the individual honesty of the caller, and they're not always honest. More lately I find myself in this role. "No ... look again ... " =^..^=

Been doing this for 7 years now as a Ricoh only tech. Worked for Ricoh direct for 3 years and left for a dealer when they bought Ikon. I was told if you stay in this field for 5 years you are stuck in this field. It looks like they are right.
