    Desktop Color All in one

Hey copy techs...i'm looking for some advice from yall.

I've been looking for a good all-in-one color desktop to give to my customers...I am not a ricoh dealer but i sell all ricoh equipment. In the years past it was either an all in one b&w (like a 171 or 201) or if you wanted color and be able to have all the functionalities you would have to jump up to a big boy (the smallest being like a mp c2500). Well not everyone has money or space obviously for a big machine and most just want a desktop color all in one.

So i started trying out the sp c242sf and i HATE them....i don't want to put that in someones office period.

So...i am not stuck on ricoh, it can be any brand. But does anyone recommend a solid color all in one desktop printer between the size of a spc242sf and an sp c420?? Thanks!

I agree the SPC range are awfull, they are not even made by Ricoh!

The MPC305 is a good little box or the later version MPC306.

Hey thanks man! Ill definitely check it out...upon first glance this looks like exactly what i am looking for.

You have good experience with those fusers?? Fuser parts look like the most expensive thing about that machine

Fusers are fine no real issues. The fuser gears were failing prematurely on early models but Ricoh modified the gears so dont see this issue much.

You can rebuild the fuser or replace the complete unit.

How is the color output quality on this unit?

I've been doing this over 14 years, and the most problematic machines we've ever had to support or work on have been small all-in-one color machines. The Kyocera 306ci may be a little too big for what you're wanting, but they have proven to be pretty reliable small color machines for us. The only issue with these have been the black drum leaving dots - but like itchyfinger said, Kyocera has a great warranty program.

I can suggest you the Konica Minolta Bizhub C3351. If you want only black and white, I think that bizhub 4050 is interesting.

The Konica C3351 has been a good runner for me. The C3110 is decent too.

Genuinely surprised to hear people liking the C3351. I refuse to sell desktop Konica Minolta machines, due to the horrendous C35 (and Magicolors...). I've been working on several BH4050's (made by Lexmark), and am thoroughly unimpressed. The few C3350s and C3351's that I have worked on seem like they just slapped new covers on the C35 without addressing the underlying issues (same scanner drive belt? seriously?).

I'm not sure what I would recommend, unfortunately, but I can't say I've had good experience with desktop KM's.

The 4050's have had their issues. The C3351/C3851fs have run very good for us. A lot better than the C35's. Have a few running 15-20,000/month.

I can tell you what NOT to use.

I'd stay away from the Okidata's in that size.

I currently have 3 BH C3351 and there have been no problems for now.

What problems did you have 907tec?

Thankfully, I don't technically have any in my area. The ones I am responsible for are located on cruise ships which only visit from May-September. Last summer, I had repeated MFPB, MEM, and SSDB failures, though (on C3350's). Some of this can be attributed to the poor electrical grid onboard, but it doesn't explain the higher-than-average failure rate. I am probably also letting my hatred for the C35 affect my feelings towards the C3350/C3351. Even though it's easy, replacing the scanner belt is a huge pet peeve of mine. The fact that they still haven't addressed the simplest of issues really annoys me.
