Scan To email (gmail) Konica Minolta Bizhub E Series

Today I had two of these. Two different customers. Has been working but just recently stopped working.

I created both gmail accounts for the customer in the past and I know the password. I have turned on access for less secure apps.

Both have stopped working.

One of them shows a "Forward TX error", the other I'm not sure what error it shows.

I have checked all the email tx settings. Re-entered the password. Logged into the account at gmail.com.

the gmail account is entered into all fields such as authentication, administrator email address & device email address.

Have tried SSL 465 and StartTLS 587

Verified gateway & dns settings. Also have additional dns such as google's dns.

Can ping smtp.gmail.com from the copiers.

Other than that only thing I can think of I have tried is to factory reset the copier and set it back up. I have had to do that on an E series before to get it to scan to email on any server. But wanted to see if I'm missing something. I have set up 100s of these and have done many with gmail with little issue.

All other setting in email tx look standard default besides what I list above.

I even tried another account that I know 100% works.

Have they changed their internet provider? Some ISP, AT&T Uverse for one, block all SMTP from a MFP to any server except their own. Also, if they have changed their router to one with an active firewall, it might need to be configures to allow the MFP to send.

Even if they haven't changed ISPs, that doesn't mean their current ISP hasn't changed the rules without announcing the move.

And yes, as you stated, it is quite possible (if not easy) to determine that the SMTP traffic is being generated from a device, and not a workstation or mobile unit. I understand this is done to help cut down on the proliferation of spam.

I will check to see if I can telnet to gmail server on ports 465 and 587. The provider are local companies which I have experience with and have never blocked access to gmail from bizhubs that I have ever seen.

We had around 25 service calls come in yesterday for scan to e-mail problems. I am on the phone with one of the customers right now and he is having the exact same problem as you. This may be widespread. If I find anything out I will report back.

Could be a security setting within gmail settings itself.. I once got the forward TX error because gmail was blocking a suspicious login(the copier trying to authenticate).

Google changed their TSL from x.0 to x.2 Wednesday night and it has been reeking havoc on the 4 and 4e machines. My company is on this with KMBS about a fix.

I have noticed other techs in my company getting scan to email calls using gmail. Would the tls change affect ssl because it didn't work either.

Try setting up a temporary new gmail. I had C220 with customer using gmail happily then oine day, not a chance. Have made new gmail account and it worked. I think it might be new terms and conditions.

I got more calls now as well. Not sure if those are gmail relate yet. I have another tech call me earlier today for a call he has. He can ping gmail server but wont work.

I've got about 50 open calls all with this problem. I am just going down the list informing the customer that it's a known issue and that we are working on it, and setting up SMB scanning for the ones that absolutely have to have some sort of scanning right now. I also opened a ticket with KM so that they can update me if something turns up.

I just got an email from our office to give instructions to scan with USB stick while issues with gmail are sorted out.

Been dealing with this issue as well.

There is a special firmware on Konica for the fix. J6 I believe, hope this helps.

I just started having the same problem worked fine for year and a half and now g mail quit working. What I did is I had my customer create a outlook account and
here are the settings i used that worked.
SMTP Server : smtp.live.com Host name checked box
SMTP Port : Change port 25 to 587
Start TLS : will allow to change port from 25 to 587
User name and password
Domain : smtp.live.com
I did this on a C364 and a C284e no problems with it.
I also talked to konica Minolta DSC tech support they said that they some problems and requested a firmware update.
to fix this bug from Japan
