We have installed a Kyocera 406ci on Server 2011. If I lock the settings to B&W & configure the options on the MFP, they revert back after a bit. I've password protected the B&W & the Settings, but the server is still changing them. It's running the KX driver 6.3.0909. Any ideas or settings on server that would point me in the right direction are appreciated.

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
Any chance that the driver keeps getting uninstalled then reinstalled?
Most drivers that are capable of color (regardless of brand) will be set for color on a default installation.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
It's at a YMCA and I don't think really any others have access. They have an outside IT company handling their stuff & I was emailing him. It would revert back after a few minutes of me changing it & it happened multiple times. I put a password on on the B&W & Settings both and nobody would have known that to change it ?Comment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
are you making the changes in the advanced tab under printer defaults, are you changing it there or just the preferences under the general tab?
may seem like a silly Q but i had to ask.
also 9 times outta 10 you can get away with loading the TA 3051i driver and it will only use black. We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
The medication helps though...Comment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
The funny thing is, I left the 520i driver on the server from the previous machine since none of the server users needed color. The three color users would be local installs. I got a call because they were billed for 1,800 color pages. After some checking of the log, it was printing in color from the 520i driver. After loading the latest for the correct machine, these issues started.
I'm changing settings in the administrator tab in device settings on the driver.Comment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
Maybe a clean uninstall of all the KM drivers, then reinstalling the one you want would be in order.
Print drivers put stuff everywhere, including the registry.
You can download the print driver uninstall utility ( for free) from Kyocera Mita.
Despite the the fact that it comes from them, it seems to work well with all brands and types of drivers, and safely at that. (At least any time I've used it, anyway.).“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
Originally posted by terramobilThe use of Kyocera black/white drivers does not protect from color printing. The Kyocera driver does not delete the color information out of the printer data stream. Only solution is, to change the default settings of the driver on the server. If you customer do not need any further features, you can try to use the HP Laserjet 5 Si MX PCL Driver. Paper size and duplex is OK with it, but no other options. This driver will delete all color information.

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
I went today & uninstalled using the Kyocera uninstaller in the 6.3.0909 installer. I figured it would ask me to reboot the server, but it never did. I reinstalled & configured it, stopped by an hour later & it was back to color & had lost the options.
I configured it, then rebooted the server. After the reboot, all the configurations were still there. I'm going to check back with my end user again to see if it's holding.Comment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
I initially left it using the 520i driver, but it was printing in color.
I'm changing it on the server & locking it under the admin tab to B&W, but it reverts back to color.
Hopefully the reboot took care of it.Comment

Re: Server 2011 settings not sticking
I know in Windows 7 Pro that there is a "Print Management" program which allows you to go in and right click on print drivers and select "driver isolation"....you may be having some weird interaction between old and new print drivers...you might want to check!
