Will Fiery increase job to print speeds?

I have a few c654s that are great machines. Will a Fiery increase the time it takes a large print job to start printing? Larger print jobs takes a really long time.

Not to mention many times the jobs "fail to print" or restart printing from the beginning.... in the middle of the job.

I posted a similar question yesterday.

I fiery wont really speed up printing, however when printing high quality PDf files it will process them faster hence speeding up printing.

I'm curious why a C6000 starts printing large jobs right away and the 654 takes a very long time .

Because they are both totaly differant machines! The C6000 is a Pro machine the C654 is an office device.

I've run into this with a few MPC3503's with Fiery's attached. The Fiery is fast as anything but the thing that slows the print speed down is the transmission time and slow processor in the '03. Fiery's attached to office machines are pretty much pointless.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

I thought they called the C654 a "production" model? Anything over 65 ppm

I have Large but office grade ink jets that process faster than these 654s. Its nuts. Its not just that a C6000 is a larger machine. I love and hate the 654s .

I might suggest that in the future you include manufacturer as well as the model when you post to this forum as it is not manufacturer specific. Example, there is a C6000 from both Ricoh, Konica Minolta and others.

That being said, what print port is the C654 using. When Windows is allowed to automatically install a printer, it tends to use the WSD port, Web Services for Devices, instead of TCP/IP. The WSD port is notorious for being extremely slow to spool a job, especially a pdf. I have seen it take as much as 10 minutes or more per page.
