If you look at the picture, on the bottom is a Sony receiver that plays piped in music inside and outside of the building. Sitting directed above that is a Aton multi-zone auto controller. This allows us to control the volume in each room independently. Right above that is a Reolink NVR that controls 8 POE Security Cameras.

And above that is a Cisco POE 48-port programable switch. And last but not least, above that is a 48 port patch panel.

I've ordered some shorter patch cords and a rack power strip.

That was a lot of work and I'm not done yet. See picture:

I noticed in the previous picture of the empty cabinet that there is a mounting for as cooling fan. Have you populated that yet. Might be a good idea if you are going to put a front cover or door on it.

Good eye. There's already one fan installed. An additional fan can be installed in the spot that you're talking about. I'm not sure yet.

          Nice setup!

I don't mean to alarm you but you've got video loss.

Off topic question. I'm going to be getting a 6 camera wired system with DVR for my home and was wondering if just connecting a small monitor to the DVR lets one view all the cameras or if it's more involved. Right now, I use an IP cam viewer app on an old tablet connected to wifi for viewing my 3 (old crappy) cameras I currently have.

The monitor that you see in the picture is in the sever room and I only use if I need to change any setting. I can view all the cameras from any PC on the network and from my phone. I also have done port forwarding on my ISP router so I can view the cameras from anywhere in the world from my phone.

Hopefully with a strong password and in lifecycle cameras, otherwise any script kiddy with a Shodan account is going to be watching your cameras.

You might want to look into Ring camera systems.

I've been researching for quite some time and want to buy locally and unfortunately, there isn't a lot to choose from here. I've settled on this one from Night Owl, at Sam's Club. Just waiting for them to mark it down since they haven't sold any yet (most likely because they don't have the system on display and nobody knows about unless they do some research). I wouldn't be surprised to see them mark it down by $50 or $100 in the next few weeks.

I mentioned that I ordered another Dell Server. Guess what? Fucking FedEx did it to me again. They said they left it at the front door but they're full of shit. I opened up a case with them but who knows how that's gonna go. I hate FedEx.

Do you have the security cam footage to show that they never showed up? They're not my first choice for shipping ever.

Will also show if you have a problem with porch pirates.. You might in the future have things shipped with signature required.

I bought the server off Ebay. I've never had a situation where it showed the package was delivered but wasn't. I've opened a case with FedEx and Ebay. We'll see what happens.

                              Talk about timing....

FedEx just walked in the door and delivered a rack mounted power supply that I ordered the other day. It was some girl that I didn't recogizie but she seemed to know me. She probably went to high school with my son.

Anyway, she said she delivered my server to a house that's on the next street over. It's literally right behind my office. She said they weren't home because she just went by there. I know the people who live there....sorta.

She's supposed to go back and get it. We'll see...
