That Cloud idea was good, but sounds like your customer won't pay for what they want the way they want it.

$600 won't even cover enough Professional services fees to make the deal worth it, I assume there are a bunch of boxes leveraging this deal?

No install of 3rd party software is just another unrealistic expectation, all these types of solutions do the OCR outside the device on a PC somewhere utilizing a 3rd party OCR engine for things beyond text searchable PDF's.

Good luck but this deal sounds better left alone.

      Walk away, Dude, walk away.

With all those restrictions, it will never happen.

... you can install apps on modern copiers. OCR hosted by a copier is fairly common now. Often you do not need a server to rip a job especially on copiers with multicore processors.

I did eventually find a free app from Toshiba called eBridge Plus Barcode Scan.

Toshiba e-BRIDGE Plus for Barcode Scan - YouTube

It requires the purchase of the OCR Enabler for approx $500.00 and works great!

No server or Cloud connection required. The copier handles all of the processing.

This app helped me knock out 2x Canons.
