    Bluetooth LAN adapter

Customer is so proud of his new iPhone, that he wants to be able to print with it directly to a KonicaMinolta BH-C-284e by using Bluetooth.
His WLAN network has been switched off for “Security Reasons” (his words)

Any drawbacks? Any suggestion for an adapter please?

Sounds to me like someone has been doing things on his iPhone that he is not supposed to be doing. I would contact his corporate office to find out if he is authorized to make such a request. If allowed a USB dongle would be the easiest to install but would have limited range. An iPhone is a Class 2 Bluetooth has a range of about 10 meters. If the dongle is a Class 3 device that range drops to about 4 meters. The same range limits apply to an internal Bluetooth interface.

The BH284C was introduced in Sept 2013, discontinued in March 2017.

You are chasing a dead horse on a copier that should have been upgraded years ago.

The BH technology in the 284c is probably obsolete and cannot keep up with the latest iPhone security standards.

Politely walk away and suggest the customer upgrades their copier.

      Try AirPrint instead.

This is the company owner who wants to print himself with his iPhone to the machine.
WLAN is out of the question in his eyes.

Why should he update his extremely well functioning, cost-efficient machines? (he has 3 of them)
I cannot find any arguments to convince him to get a junky BH-C-xxxi from KonicaMinolta instead.
I have a service contract with his company and literally hundreds of parts in stock. Not only new and well functioning coming from China, but also for the occasionally rare or infrequent parts which I get from donor machines, still having in storage.

Yes, I know that generation is “old” but if the requirements at that place are still the same as for 12 years and will not change fore some time coming.
Until now, no problems yet with SMB protocols and E-Mail is definitely not being used on these machines, so security would not be an argument for me to push the owner to newer generations.

I own more with my service contracts and the additional prints exceeding the contract volume than selling crappy new machines with the obligation for warranty or guarantee on new equipment.
I'm a technician, not a salesman, you see.....

        Thanks

Is a Bluetooth to USB a viable option? Possibly one he can carry with him and connect to whichever machine he is at?

Yes, I would eventually “upgrade” every machine with an adapter. But which type or brand? I have no experience with any manufacturer regarding this.

He wants to print using BT on a copier that does not support BT right ?
He does not want any form of WLAN ?
I'm not aware of any commercial printer/copier that can print using BT, the protocol is too slow with 1 or 2 Mbits
Actually BT 5 has a max rate of 50 Mbits so it should be possible in the future ???
Sharp has a BT function that actually is just to share the smartphone address book.

Use AirPrint on iPhone to print wirelessly to an AirPrint-enabled printer from apps such as Mail, Photos, Safari, and Freeform.

              Print from iPhone
Use AirPrint to print wirelessly to an AirPrint-enabled printer from apps such as Mail, Photos, and Safari. Many apps available on the App Store also support AirPrint.
Note: Your iPhone and the printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

              Edit :
Kyocera can print with a Kit EK-607

Ricoh can print with BT but actually use WiFi Direct

Canon and HP have some home printers that can use BT.
Sharp and Epson are using WiFi Direct too

He's better of using the KM app, just need the C284e & his iphone to be on the same network.

I have many clients using this, you have better options than Blutooth or Airprint.

                  "on the same network"
                  Without WLAN ?
Or he can use a LAN adapter, but I'm pretty sure that's not what he expect :
