With the release of the new version 5 BP's, supporting RED (Radio Equipment Directive), we've found some problems today with integrating with PaperCut MF. (This should only apply to EU/UK, but may be relevant to other markets in the future)
If you cannot connect to server, or the login fails to "enable device", or the card reader causes the connection to drop; try the following:
Make sure the firmware is at the latest.
For BP-60Cxx etc, the version 05.03.xx is the minimum needed; as there is a fix for an option that needs to be changed later.
On the device or web manager:
We have also found that if you enable Use IC Card for Authentication, this setting will cause the connection to PaperCut MF to drop; if this happens, do the following:
Hopefully Sharp and/or PaperCut can release some fixes, or automate the process in the future.

- Advanced Settings
- Press OK, then in ID enter: 00048, press Show
- Tick Enable Legacy Cipher Suites for TLS
- Press Submit
- Advanced Settings
- Security Settings
- SSL/TLS Settings
- Untick Verify Signature of Server Certificate of the Other Party
- Press Submit, then Reboot Now
- SSL/TLS Settings
- System Control
We have also found that if you enable Use IC Card for Authentication, this setting will cause the connection to PaperCut MF to drop; if this happens, do the following:
- System Settings
- Authentication Settings
- Default Settings
- Untick Enable Offline Authentication with stored User Information
- Press Submit, then Reboot Now
- Default Settings
- Authentication Settings
Hopefully Sharp and/or PaperCut can release some fixes, or automate the process in the future.
