    Konica Minolta - User Boxes

    Hi all.

The senior members are probably gonna roll their eyes for this post but I'll go ahead and ask anyways.
Has anyone successfully transfered user boxes accross from one bizhub to another?

I mean, its 2023 already and im still trying to grasp the fact that when you're upgrading a bizhub you still need to manually copy those bastards across.

Usually, i don't mind doing it because I don't have many devices in the field with plenty boxes on them but every few years I've got one or two big clients who upgrade every few years and that time is fast approaching. One client In particular has a C308 with roughly 130 secure user boxes.

The rest of the data transfer is fine because we all know we can set switch 72 to 04 and transfer to USB, or use the device web interface and export to file or even data administrator... But those darn boxes lol
Wish Konica can just implement like what Xerox and Toshiba has where you can just clone the existing device over to the new one...

I've already backed up all the data i can and will import that data in office prior to delivery but i really don't want to sit and manually recreate those 130 odd boxes.

If any of you guys managed to find an easier option then please let me know, your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Konica Minolta - User Boxes

The following only works on "4" series machines and newer. This export will not move the User boxes or their contents. It also will not copy the IP, Subnet, and Gateway address's.

    Service mode
    System 2
    Software Switches
    Choose switch 72
    Change to Hex 04
    Fix
End until out of service mode.

I believe that there is a utility for this task:

    I have something called: HDDBackup_Ut_v1.3.23000.zip
It may help you. There most certainly must be a more current version (this one is dated 2018).

There's also something called Web Management Tool:
Backing up files in a User Box
There is no connecting link to "backing up user boxes" but the line appears in the online manual(?). Maybe it's better explained in the Users Guide. I certainly hope so.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Is it this real shame for KM - I think Yes.
We don't encourage nor advise clients to use user boxes in large numbers(if any).
But I feel your pain as AFAIK nowadays there is still no way to do what you need other than manually.

Re: Konica Minolta - User Boxes

Try this - you need to be on the latest function version

Admin mode - security setting- page2- maintenance mode access - set to allow

service mode- system 2 - page 3 - maintenance mode - set to effective

an extra button pops on on the bottom left in service mode - machine update settings - select it, then machine auto update settings - machine export settings, highlight what you want to export, but from experience everything is selected, so deselect what you don't want

        enter password and start

to import, as above, but depending on function/FW version there is a button Machine import settings

I've had some success with it, but it seems to only and empty user box

if you want to go into maintenance mode on the i series, go to admin then security - security details - maintenance mode

When you have finished, the device will still be in "Maintenance mode" even after rebooting - there'll be a big arrow at the top left of the screen - press it then exit
        maintenance mode

        Cheers
