    Print Server Set Up

    Hi all,

I have a Konica 7022 Print/Copier machine in the office. am wondering how I can set it up to be a central print server. The setup is as follows:

I have the ISP router that connects me to the outside world. On the router, I have connected the internal mail server, and a switch where I have connected all the office machines. Now, I have connected the Konica 7022 machine on to the switch using a print server router that I have given an IP address. The router interface tells my the printer is in a ready to print state but it does not print. I have tried all options I can think of but it doesnt print.

Is my setup correct? If not, what is the correct setup? If it is, what could be the issue?

    Kind Regards

The setup should be correct, though the information you are giving is a little bit vague. There are many issues that can occur with third party printservers - such as the copier not working at all (yes, this is a possibility).

I would advise you to set up the ports the print server uses with the software that most likely comes with it. Some print servers have their share of quirks when it comes to this and just setting up the printer port via the windows add printer interface will not be sufficient.

You should make sure that the printserver is in the same IP range as the rest of the network. Communicating across ranges is something printers have big trouble with. I assume you are using static IPs?

Also, are you trying to send the data in RAW? If so, try LPR. LPR has done wonders for me in the past.

It is equipped with an ip controller right? (as stupid as that may sound) If so theres no need to use an external print server, you'd use the ip on the machine for that purpose.
