    Smb authentication testing

    SMB AUTHENTICATION TESTING...

You guys know that sometimes when you setup scanning to smb on the domain there can be four or five ways to configure the settings...

    My question is this...

Are there any command line tools that will give you a hint to which one will work...
linux or windows tools are appreciated...

or even smb clients that I can use...

It wont show you what will work for authentication, but you can test it by running it through run. It'll bring up the authentication box, if any is required. Ususally the domain name needs to be capitalized.
    Hope that helps !

      Thanks Tony.

...another tool in my IT toolbox. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Always happy to help. I had an instance where the folder name & share name were different. This is the quickest & easiest way to make sure you can get to what you're looking for. Then you KNOW it's an authentication problem & not a path issue.
        Hope that helps !
