You will have to use the Custom/Special firmware B2385605L LRC0451 released February 6, 2013 in both SD and remote. This is the network support firmware to allow scan to SMB with Win 8 and Server 2012. If you are waiting for a regular firmware release, you will have a long wait. Due to the age of the MPC2000, there may not be any additional regular firmware releases.

I have just spoken to Ricoh Technical & they have confirmed there will be no firmware release for SMB scanning to Win8 for MPC2500/3500/4500.

just a question on the windows 8 computers do they have passwords with their usernames or is it blank? i was also strugling my client chaned al his machines to windows 8 and none of them had passwords with their usernames. o thought nothing of it as it worked with windows 7. i just couldnt get it to smb scan so i went into user accounts and added a password added the password on the setup of copier through browser and ill be damned it worked.

I think I'd pay closer attention to the techs in this forum. I've personally used the custom firmware for Win8 on the C2500 and it works.

Also: I had previously tried with/without passwords, etc., etc., as asked by 'drolfe' above. It would not work without firmware update

And where is this custom firmware available from? Last firmware for this model was 2011.

so guys where is the custom firmware? i already update the release firmware from Ricoh but no luck at all.. Is there any possibilities to set SCAN TO FTP without FTP server?

FTP Scanning without an FTP server? No

But Filezilla FTP server is free, and works like a charm, and has generally become my personal preference over SMB.
There were 56 threads about this exact topic at my last check, in the Ricoh forum.
Have a look.

Otherwise...scan to email. Simple.

New feature in win 8.1, go to control panel, programs and features, turn windows features on or off, there is SMB 1.0/CIFS Support check box. Don't know when this was added, found it on my win8.1 dell venue pro tablet and then checked my pc that has 8.1 pro on it and it is there also. also you can turn on FTP in windows under Internet Information services

YEs i did it..thanks to sandmanmac for the tips..

Here what i do..
1. Install Filezilla as An FTP server
2. Add user and folder in the filezilla setting
3. Go to webimage and input user which i set in filezilla in the Address book
4. Input setting like Scan to Folder setting..only change to FTP instead of using SMB
5. Input IP address for this FTP server
6. Leave the Path Empty..
7. Test connection successful
8. Start scanning..

Works for All MPC without need to update any firmware.. Tried with MPC2500,3500,3000,2550,2800

i know, and you both right. i registered here but only activate my account yesterday because i lost my email login, and it was a pain to get the credentials back, sorry. i will try to help everytime possible. greetings and keep up the good work

by the way if you want some firmwares, pm's or tutorials to macprint without ps,etc, just ask. this firmware i dont have and i really need help.
