    iR 3080i/3380i laser unit removal

    Hi Guys,
Anyone got the instructions for removing the laser assy from the machine. I have a 4mm wide white line in prints that can only now be caused by dirt on the laser path windows/mirrors. It is in all colours but more noticeable in C & M but it also appears in K & Y.

Cleaned the dust proof glass but it has no effect.

It's paper feed direction on the inboard side.
As it is common to all colours we've changed the belt & cleaner and cleaned the dust proof glass.
Debris / dirt on the mirrors is the only thing left. There are no corresponding marks on either the 2nd transfer roller or the fixer.

On the 20xx and the 22xx series the laser unit just pulls out the side... much easier.

It's quite commen to get white lines or deletions on this series, usually it is a hard bit of toner or developer in the drum unit, seen this a few times even with brand new units.

It is easy to clear, just remve the drum shaft, pop the drum out to view the dev roller, if you see a blank area fold some paper & run it under the dev blade to clear it

Using the laser cleaning tool usually does the job to clean any toner etc on the glass, just repeate it & see if the white line etc moves.

Re: iR 3080i/3380i laser unit removal

It would be a huge (read: unlikely) coincidence to have developing unit blockage in exactly the same location on four different developing units.

It would be educational to see the primary belt after an emergency stop. If the latent image is well developed for all the colors then it cannot be laser, must be secondary transfer. If the latent developed image has voids, it could be laser or developer blockages. If all colors are voiding on the belt, the most likely cause is one of the early lenses or mirrors inside the laser being dirty. If it's only one or two colors making voids, there is an equal chance that it could be dirty laser optics or a developing unit blockage, or some combination of both. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes I agree, but again all four laser glass having toner on them in the same place!?

Can you post us a sample print, PG10 would be helpfull?
