    IR5000 Void Line

We have an IR5000 with a 1/2 inch void on every copy. Even test prints have the void in the exact same spot. We have replaced the developer unit and laser, but the problem is still there. The void line has shifted from the center of the page to about 1 inch from the bottom of the copies. Sky shot and test print are in the attached PDF. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

is the void on all paper sizes?..could be a tray issue, also check you blanking leds, you can remove to check leds, but the cchanging orshifting to the bottom of page, sound like something shorting out, try running copies without pre-transfer corona, swap primary corona, and transfer corona, if you have access to spare coronas..good luck

      Re: IR5000 Void Line

There are three things that can create voids, and it appears that you covered 2 of the three:

      1) Lack of developing brush, usually caused by a foreign object between the S-blade and the developing roller. Or if you may have a deformed upper seal clearing a space on the developing roller.

      2) Obstruction to the laser light path. Replacing the laser is certainly a start, but it's fully possible that there is something else blocking the laser, like perhaps a warped primary charge venting duct.

      3) Or you might have an obstruction laying across the transfer wire, blocking transfer in a specific area. Quite often its a corona block cover that's broken and has migrated out into the center of the transfer wire, as a result of closing the drawer.

      =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you checked the primary transfer cleaning pad is not stuck? take the corona out & check, if it is stuck wind it back manually but don't reconnect he motor when you fit it back.

Could also be a faulty cleaning lamp ass'y disconnect this ass'y & do a another sky shot.

That looks like your transfer/sep corona cleaner is not at home.

You guys were correct, the cleaning pad was not returning home. We turned the machine off, moved the cleaning pad to the home position, plugged it up, turned the machine on, the pad stopped half way and the void line was in the middle of the page.

Moved the pad to the home position again and left it unplugged. Clear copies again!!!

The tech said he tried turning the gears to move the cleaning unit before but it was taking too long. That would explain why the void area moved from the middle of the page to the end of the page.

Thanks a million for the help!

There is a spring metal with white tip that contacts the sprial cut shaft that drives the cleaning pad. Over time the spring metal fatuges and weakens. I take the spring metal off and re-bend to increase the contact force.

Back in the day I carried those as carstock. They get quite blunt after a while. New style: (2) FF5-6885-000 Spring, Guide Pin 9 mm =^..^=
