[Error Code] Canon IR 3100N E000020-0081

Hi guys, sorry to barge in here and have my first post be asking for help, I have been a long time lurker as you guys know these 3100 are a pain in the whazoo.

I have had the machine since 2008, no problems what so ever in 2013 I had the same drum replaced by a tech due to the same 0020-0081 code.

But now in 2016 I'm thinking the sensor might be dirty, checked the copy menu and a P-SENS-P of 253

Would I need a new drum again or can I go in there and clean the sensor?

If so how do I get access to the sensor to clean it?

    Thanks Guys

    Bryan

All you need to do is clean that patch sensor, simply remove the drum, use a flashlight you'll see the sensor above the drum about halfway in, use a damp cloth, not dry.

Then then check the P-SENS again when clean the sensor should read over 500.

You may find it comes back, but simply clean it again, this is normal on this old machine!

Keep an eye on the P-SENS reading try to keep it about 500 the machine will run much better.

It will say zero after you have cleaned it. Next time the machine does a gradation or comes out of sleep etc check p-sens again it will be over 500😉
