    [CQ] IRADv6255i thin black line on duplex using DADF AP1

    Hi all,

    I have an intermittent thin black line appearing when copying duplex using the DADF AP1, only happens on the 2nd side so must be the CIS unit in the DF? I removed & cleaned this but still get an intermittent line.

    Should I replace this unit?

    Usually when you take the front cover of the adf off you can pull out the scan glass (second side scan) and clean it. I don't take out the second side cis unit out unless I get error codes. If they scan a lot maybe it is scratched somewhere. Can't remember if you can run with glass out to tell or not. Scan glass has blue handle at front end.

      Hi, yes I cleaned both sides of the scan glass, it doesn't look scratched.

        I was wondering if you could run it with the glass out to see if the line is there or not. I don't know if the paper has to pass over the glass or not. I have not had one that is not on that glass but I did have to replace the glass one time on a machine. Otherwise I would think it was on the mirror inside the cis. If you know how to take it out it is not too hard to take out. The top comes off so you can get to the mirror inside. If you have any machines with that glass maybe you could swap to see if line goes away.

          I find that there is a mylar sheet if you remove the stream-read glass from the ADF. Sometimes there are scratches and/or dirt caked onto the mylar. I had this happen today on an imagePRESS 1135. The feeder is basically identical to this one, once I cleaned the mylar the problem went away. Take a blower brush to the CIS unit as well, might be a little dirt on the lens inside.

            Thanks i'll check that.

            Found out this DADF is actually known as a "Duplex Colour Image Reader Unit G1" but on the back it is labelled as a "DADF AP1"

              I've had the same issue with a C5255, cleaned everything but ended up replacing the scanunit...

                  Not sure if it's the same one as on a 6255, we ordered the FM0-2745-000

                      I have no manuals of the 6255, so can't helpyou with that. Precisionroller isn't much help either ;

                          You can run it without the glass. I'm having the same issue but the line is constant when using adf. Mine is on 1 or 2 sided with the line being on 1 side only. You can reverse the 1 sided scanner glass to test and it wasn't that or the reader glass.
