    ir 4570 dirty copies

its coming from the fuser, we've replaced the fixing film and the pressure roller, and cleaning roller. We even went into service mode lvl 2 and changed fixing cleaning to 3 (clean after every copy) but there is still toner sticking to the fixing film that is leaving marks on the top of the copies to the point that when we pulled the fuser and passed paper through it by hand it was leaving marks...wtf? any ideas? we've tried a different good fuser and still get the same result on this machine.

Also replaced the drum, dev unit, and transfer roller.

    Thanx in advance

What type of toner are you using? OEM?
    Are you running heavy paper?
You could try turning the fusing temperature up COPIER/OPTION/BODY/FIX-TEMP

Running standard paper, non recycled 20lb, fixing temp is set to 7, and oem toner.

Is the toner actually fixing to the page?
Are you able to rub the toner off with a finger?Try a fresh ream of paper...I had the same issue on a 4570 and it turned out to be damp paper.
Have you been testing using whatever paper they happened to have in the drawer?
ALWAYS test fixing issues with paper that you KNOW is good.

Is it possible that it is actually being caused by a tone leak from the sub hopper unit or developing assembly? I ask only because it is a know issue with the series. There is a TP for the issue that includes new (bigger) seals. TP08 170.

            Pressure Roller Bearings

By chance did you replace the pressure roller bushings at the time you replaced the pressure roller? If not, I'd check those, also.

I've had this same problem. The toner was wandering from the leaky seal into the fuser area. I've had better luck replacing the developer cover with the updated seals than just replacing the seals themselves. You've tried everything else like I already have. Go ahead and replace the developer seals and clean out the toner spillage.

Is the fuser been activated when you close the door? I had one recently with the toner rubbing off and was caused by the large metal spring like lever that activates the fuser when you close the door

brand new paper is being used, we just threw and brand new canon direct fuser at it with no change, the dev unit is new and isn't leaking. really not sure why its doing it. the repeat marks are the diameter of the fixing film. but like i said it has a brand new fuser in it as of this morning, and the temp is still turned up

Man...you STILL haven't answered whether or not the toner is fixed to the page or not.
If you've replaced the fuser I can garrantee 100% it's NOT the fuser.
Checked the transfer roller in the door?

Not real experienced but it still sounds like a sub hopper toner leak to me. Pull fuser, developer, drum etc - give the whole area a good vacuuming. The issue may go away for a period of time, then reappear. If it does, you know it is a toner leak.

Checking the transfer roller sounds like a good idea.

sorry i couldn't post back here sooner.

we had already replaced the transfer roller in the door on thursday .......thats when i noticed the the LATCH that engages the fuser wasn't even on the door! it was completly missing.

So friday we went out with a door latch and the damn thing works fine.

Thanx to everyone for your help, i just honestly never thought to check and see if a part of the door was missing.....now i know better.

Go easy Lgonjim. Some of us aren't tied to these forums for solutions like you are. We actually go out and fix shit on our own and don't have time to reply back to you so that you don't have to think about anything. I know plenty of guys like you that call around to fellow techs and check numerous web sites before you even get to the call and do some actual troubleshooting.
