    [CQ] Canon iR Advanced 6255i

    Hi,

I have randomly positioned white stripes over long edge of paper (position and size are each time different, sometimes even whole A4 paper is washed out). Looks like there is voltage leak somewhere and I suspected corotrons, so I installed new Charge and Pre-clean corotron, problem persists. Developing assy looks normal, although I suspect it now mostly.

Machine is almost new, have done only 200000 copies. Another toner was also tried without effect.

If any Canon service technician could comment, it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks.

If you could post some print samples of the fault that will help us.

Is the machine running on genuine Canon toner?
Does the fault happen on prints, copies or both?

After cleaning contacts on Developer Assy, it's not so washed out anymore. Still it has this bands of darker areas also randomly generated but visible on one side mostly. Happens on both print and copy. Check print below, it's visible on top side.

Toner was also suspected but changed 2 times and I believe it is original.

Looking at the spacing I see this is a drum issue

I just cleaned laser unit, it's the same. It wasn't dirty at all, both prism and mirrors.

I'm left with either developing assy or drum/blade. Considering machine is almost new, I doubt drum faulty, but I could be wrong.

Is there any potentional problem with dev. assy I could try to remedy ?

I don't have another drum to try and drum is expensive to just order to try it out...

I'm also thinking faulty HVPS but maybe that's overkill for now...

Can you post a PG7 output from service? That is a solid black, might shed some light on dev/drum issues.

I would doubt the drum at 200k. If it is, then Canon should come to the table there.

Which direction is this coming LTR or LTRr?

It does look very light for that PG output...I would say to try the developer. The parts are tend to last a long time in these units, but I have had a developer fail on me very early before.

You could take the entire drum holder unit out with the drum in and pop the cleaned off to check the blade, maybe the conditioning lamps are dirty.

we've had one case where customer had put not original canon toner to the machine and it made the same kinda mess that the picture showed.

we had to change the developing unit cause it was full of that fake toner and then we changed the toner to original.

the paper was messy for awhile cause there was that fake toner in the toner feed system but over time the mess went away when the original toner kicked in.

Try vacuuming out the hopper if you are going to replace the dev. I have had similar problems in the past with non-OEM toner being used and it will mess up the developers over time. I had a guy with two imagePRESS machines put the imagePRESS 1135 toner in the black slot of a C7010VP. You have to vacuum for days but to replace the parts takes no time.

Make sure you take OEM toner in when you start it up again too.
